Let's assume you will want to install a lot of operating systems on a 1.5Tb HDD.

At 80Gb per Operating System, how many OS'es will you be able to install on a 1.5Tb HDD?

Solution: have one hard drive and operating system, then make as many virtual machines as you wish

Theoretically speaking, let's say you use a different partition for each, since Vista and XP on the same partition is a no-no (works but it's ugly and get's uglier). Then you could still only fit four OS's on a drive (assuming that if you use Linux you don't have a swap file on that drive). I haven't tried installing an OS onto a logical partition, but then it could become 8? if you could...

19 coz you can't have 18.75 OS's(but vista can count as 0.75 of one )

Yes, it's one 1.5Tb HDD - Seagate announced the delivery of said HDD recently.

TIAL's solution seems to be the best - I am not sure if Linux can get past the 4 primary partition limitation as imposed on windows and DOS (and SCO Unix).

A hard drive, whether using NTFS, EXT2/3, ReiserFS, FAT, only supports four primary partitions (not talking about logical and extended partitions).
