The next Springbok Coach

Mark my words, SARU will make under20 bok coach new coach, Eric sauls they love giving bok reigns to ex under 20 and 21 coaches!!

Hope I'm wrong though!

They got lucky with Jake White and thought it will happen again. I think they realized what a stupid appointment that was so I highly doubt they'll do it again.

Wasn't the last time we won anything on that level with PDivvy? If PDivvy won something and Eric didn't then that doesn't bode well for him.

Rassie is the best coach to take over and I think he will. There's also the outside chance of an international coach taking over. Luckily for us Nick Mallett has already ruled himself out...

Next coach - John Smit:D:p

I do think he will make an excellent coach one day..........

Another point ... who will the assistant coaches be? I'd try to get Paul Treu involved, he's done wonders with the seven's team, and this with his team squad changing almost every week nogals ...

fair point! If its a color based thing, then I'd go with Alistair too.

Why must it be a colour based thing ? The squad is still very much white. If a white man is better suited then they must hire that person. SARU should stop with the shena****ns. We will still support the Boks either way. They are our team regardless.

Yes Paul Treu is a good 7s coach, but 7s a totally different ball game wrt to tactics and stuff. And whats going to happen to our 7s if Paul Treu leaves, with him there. At least we got a chance of winning trophies.

Rassie for me is good as a director, not so much as a coach. He was good at the Cheetahs as a coach, but not so good a coach of Province/Stormers. But as a director, he doing a great job.

With the whole transformation issues and the ANC complaining about it, it's definitely not going to be a white coach. Lets hope I am wrong and the best man for the job gets appointed

Agree, Paul is doing an amazing job with the 7's. Dont fix something that isint broken.

Alistair and Rassie together can tick all the right boxes.

I would like to see a foreign coach (Mitchell maybe?), but seriously doubt the powers that be would be willing to go that route.

Might not be the case...

Nass Botha hinted on FB that he might be applying for the Coaching job.
He'll get my vote :)

He will also have my vote. I really do not like him and I doubt that if he was to make the calls that the boks would play anything BUT 10 man rugby, but that is the rugby that wins tests.

Also thought of him as he is coloured and was not doing a bad job thus far. I personally would not want him in that role atm though.

Well soon as Rassie and Alistair can cook up a trophy or two I might be more inclinded to Pair them.
I am still hoping for Rassie and Heyneke.

He was really not that bad....

Coach of Springboks (1997–2000)Between August 1997 and December 1998, under Mallett's guidance, the Springboks went on a record winning streak of 17 consecutive test wins. As part of the unbeaten run the Springboks won the Tri Nations Series undefeated and beat several teams by record margins, including a 52–10 against France in Paris, a 68–10 win over Scotland in Edinburgh, a 33–0 defeat of Ireland and a 96–13 against Wales. The run ended when the Springbok team was defeated by England at Twickenham at the end of a long tour on the 5 December 1998.

The relationship between Mallet and Gary Teichmann, arguably South Africa's most successful captain ever, began to sour and Teichman was controversially excluded from the 1999 Rugby World Cup squad. Mallet looked for a new captain, first turning to Corné Krige then Rassie Erasmus, Joost van der Westhuizen and André Vos for a solution. In the end the internal instability in the squad seemed to harm their performance as the squad suffered four consecutive defeats[citation needed] and were finally knocked out of the championship in the semi-final by eventual winners Australia. Despite his team's poor shape in 1999 they still managed to break more records, beating Italy 101–0 and England in the quarter-final 44–21, with Jannie de Beer kicking a world-record five drop goals in that game.

In 2000, Mallett accused the South Africa Rugby Football Union (SARFU) of "greed" for selling Tri-Nations championship tickets at inflated prices[citation needed]. He had alienated the SARFU executive, and on 27 September he resigned as national coach at the start of a disciplinary hearing began into allegations that his comments had brought the game into disrepute. Some fans, upset by how he had treated Teichman and his team's sudden poor performance, were also keen to see him go.

he knows his stuff hey. we need a coach who can assess other teams and exploit their weaknesses

I agree, he would certainly be able to motivate the team.

If Race plays a role Head Coach : Alistair Coetzee, Assistant Coach Forwards : Rassie Erasmus, Assistant Coach Backs : John Plumtree, Technical Advisor : Heineke Meyer

No Race, Head Coach : Heineke Meyer, Forward Coach : Alistair Coetzee, Backs coach : John Plumtree, Technical advisor : Rassie Erasmus

Rassie has not really done anything to make me believe he should be considered the Head Coach, no doubt the guy is clever and has a huge rugby brain, same for Naas, but being clever does not make you a good coach, non the less I would treasure his input and no doubt he must be a part of the coaching staff

Alistair in my books is a good coach, can’t remember the last time the WP looked as good as they did in the Super 15

But the clear and obvious pick will be Heineke Meyer, if he still wants it, no one deserves it more

if they decide that they dont want a white coach then besides for Alistair Coetzee, who else is there?

Jake White wants to have a go again:

Jake White wants Bok job back

I like Heyneke, but I'm not sure if he will be able to deal with the constant political interference. Jake will be ready for it.

I really hope they don't go with Jake again(depending of course on who they decide to go with of course). Would really like to see someone else have a go.

so it turns out now that divvy wont be stepping down and will be willing to continue should they offer to renew his contract.

I will fully support White's appointment.

He took unknown kids back in 2003 and made them the legends they are today. de Villiers stuck to that same squad core which just proves what a great team Jake built.
We will have to start from scratch again and there is only one person who has proven that he can build a team from scratch and win a RWC with them. I can't see how anyone would disagree with his appointment.
