The official Battlefield 4 thread

Guess that free 500 MB with Tunnelbear isn't going to be enough ...

Any free VPN's that has enough cap?

Did you use a VPN just to start the download, Disable it and continue to download as per normal? Or VPN throughout?

Preloading ... 24 GB!

The trick is to not pause the preload when you disconnect the vpn or else you get errors when you resume. Just disconnect, don't pause/resume.

Just to understand clearly even if I bought the game through Origin here in SA without using VPN I can start preloading now by enabling a VPN connection?

Yes. But perhaps you can preload without. I used a vpn though.

Download Tunnelbear (500 MB free). Run it and select USA and click the connect dial. Once connected start Origin and click preload. Wait for it to start and after 50 MB or so disconnect the vpn.

At 2% ...

When I got home after a hike I saw there had been a power failure so it only got to 700 MB. Decided to delete it and start again ... imagine getting to 24 GB to find it is corrupt!

So I assume come Tuesday the 29th we start our VPN's for Origin login and install and can then disconnect it afterwards?

Btw the preload option is not available unless you are VPN'ed to the US. That answers my own question earlier. You do need a VPN connection to preload.

Nah preloading is installing. We will only be able to play on the 1st, this just allows us to get a headstart on the preload.

Once preloaded we just wait for it to be available to play like the beta

Iirc with BF3 some SA people started playing with the US launch date though ...
