Dez also keeps his finger on the pulse wrt where good bodies are located. Sorry for this meneer. Heart breaking stuff this.

Take it from me though... If you want to get a little more "emotionally attached" to your mini - repairing it yourself will bring a lot of satisfaction. The seams on the front are easy to remove. And (on the bullnose) the front fender comes off without too much hassle. If you can find a good donor fender in the same color - it shouldn't be a major job. As long as you are prepared to take time to do it properly. Too many cars out there carrying 1/2 their weight in body putty.

It's the reason both minis I rebuilt were taken down to metal before i invested a cent in them. The first bull nose I owned was courtesy of "two careful owners from one family. Never in an accident. Respray was to get the paint back to looking bright again". My arse!!! When I stripped it down a year or so later it was full of putty. Kg's of the stuff. My mate where I was working on it had experience with lead filling. So she went back together without a single gram of body putty. He also taught me the value of a small piece of fridge door magnet when inspecting future cars I contemplated buying.

taking my mini in this weekend.

going to fix the whole front end, the driver side, and the rear (got some paint that's starting to bubble, ready to peel).

it's going to cost me a pretty penny, but will be worth it.

also going to try and source the original rebel stickers

the guy wants to use my left wheel arch to make a mould, he will then give me the right arch for free, and paint all 4 for free :)
 
So the plan was to pick up my mini this morning. But yesterday afternoon Kobus phones me. They've removed the old stickers, but the now the only side that's not getting new paint, the left side, it has a little sticker "burn in" from the old stickers... asks me if you should paint that side as well... I said, well, it just needs to be like that, because sorry I don't have more cash.

He phones me back saying that he'll do it for free if I can wait another week. Because, he says, "Ek hou nie van lelike minis nie" :D :D

Asked him to send me some photos of the car in its current state... i think it's looking fantastic tbh
