Time warp! This 1968 Morris Mini Mk1 has covered just 438 km from new

A 1968 Morris Mini Mk1 with a mere 438 km on the clock has popped up for sale in the United Kingdom.

Woodham Mortimer has put the vehicle up for sale in Essex, describing it as “the world’s most original Mini”

With just 272 miles (or 438 km) on its odometer, the 1968 model is offered as it would have been delivered more than 50 years ago, with even the plastic seat covers fitted and intact.

Built in 1967, the car was registered and delivered in 1968 to Mrs B Jones, who had yet to learn to drive. She never did and the Mini was garaged, where it remained until it was auctioned by her family a few years ago.

Inside, you’ll find a Tartan Red interior as well as optional safety belts sporting manufacturer’s pre-delivery service cardboard tag. There’s even an original “running in” sticker on the rear screen.

David Brown launches hot version of Mini Remastered

Limited-run Oselli Edition makes 109bhp and is offered with a roll cage and harness

David Brown Automotive has unveiled a limited-run performance variant of its sympathetically modernised Mini Remastered to mark the motoring icon's 60th birthday.

The Oselli Edition has been modified by classic motorsport specialist Oselli. It features an uprated version of the original A-Series engine but with capacity increased from 1.0 litre to 1.4 litres for a power output of 109bhp – a 40% increase over the standard Mini Remastered unit.

Alongside the addition of a fifth gear for lower revs at higher speeds, the Oselli Edition receives a revamped exhaust and air intake system to cope with the extra power.

Underneath, there are Spax adjustable performance dampers, wider wheels and tyres and an upgraded braking system comprising four-piston calipers at the front and alloy drums at the back.

David Brown will produce 60 examples of the Oselli Edition, priced from £98,000 for a four-seater and £108,000 for a two-seater with a roll cage.

James Bond Lotus Esprit-inspired Mini Remastered revealed

One-off special edition, built for Simon Cowell, is painted to match 007's For Your Eyes Only wheels

Silverstone-based David Brown has unveiled a one-off version of its modernised Mini Remastered, inspired by the Lotus Esprit from the 1981 James Bond film: For Your Eyes Only.

Understood to have been purchased by music mogul Simon Cowell, the special edition is painted in a distinctive maroon and copper livery, complete with stripes and bold ‘Turbo’ emblems. As with the Monte Carlo version of the standard car, the wheel arches and roof are painted black.

The brake callipers are black, too, and sit behind a set of bespoke 13in alloy wheels, designed to replicate the classic sports car’s BBS items.

The Swind-E Classic - https://swind.life/products/e-classic/ - can be based on any Mini you want (old Countryman, Clubman, Cooper or just an early 1980s City like this) and then full restored to incorporate a 24kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the transmission tunnel, an 80kw electric motor under the bonnet and range for over 125 miles.

It is better balanced, lower centre gravity and has more boot space than the Alec Issigonis original.

Matt Farah tested this thing...not going to lie, anything more than 130bhp in a Mini is overkill.
 
Swindon Powertain offers EV conversion kit for classic Mini

Owners can now replace their original A-Series engine with a 70kg electric system from £8850

Wiltshire-based Swindon Powertrain has launched an electric conversion package for the original Mini.

Following the launch of the brand's own Swind E electric Mini, the system allows owners of the famous British city car to swap its original A-Series petrol engine for a zero-emissions unit.

Available to order now from £8850 plus VAT, the conversion kit is centred around the company's recently launched HPD E 'crate' motor, which is claimed to offer the highest power-to-volume ratio of any automotive propulsion system, weighing in at just 50kg and producing 107bhp.

The package, sold as the Classic Mini Kit, comprises the electric motor and a set of brackets that allow it to be implanted in an original Mini's engine bay with no modification required. The entire kit weighs just 70kg (roughly half that of an original Mini's engine and gearbox combined) and is supplied with new CV joint housings that mate with original-specification Mini driveshafts.

A standard differential is included, although buyers can optionally upgrade to a limited-slip unit. Further upgrade options include an on-board charger and AC-DC converter.

Performance details remain unconfirmed and will vary slightly according to the specification of each converted car, but the Swind E Mini - using a slightly different powertrain - was capable of 0-60mph in 9.2sec and a top speed of 80mph.

Customer deliveries for the new kit will begin in December 2020, with Swindon Powertrain targeting classic car enthusiasts, specialists and EV conversion firms.

Third Oldest Mini Cooper is going under the hammer in the UK - BMWBLOG​

Silverstone Auctions is offering you the chance to get your hands on the third oldest Mini Cooper known to have survived since the dawn of the model’s long production run.

This is a 1961 Morris Mini Cooper that has been restored and looks absolutely incredible.

According to the listing, the first Mini Cooper models were built in two batches, the first 150 in July 1961 followed by further cars in August/September 1961.

This one will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in September.

According to the VIN number, this particular car was the 76th built of the second batch and consequently is the 226th Cooper ever built. Its odometer also seems to show great numbers overall, with only 45,640 miles registered on it so far. The ad also says that very few miles have been put on the car since it was restored. However, there’s no mention as to the exact number.

Nevertheless, this Mini looks absolutely impeccable.

David Brown Automotive detailed its latest Remastered build, which explores the Mini's vast racing heritage. Created jointly with Oselli, the resto-modded city car gains a more powerful engine, a long list of updates that racers in the 1960s could only dream of, and a handful of styling tweaks that set it apart from an unmodified Mini.

Most of David Brown's builds have focused on adding luxury, comfort, and convenience to one of England's best-known cars. With decades of experience in building race cars, Oselli brings a healthy dose of performance.

The transformation starts under the hood, where power comes from a twin-carburetted, 1.5-liter four-cylinder tuned to develop 125 horsepower and 113 pound-feet of torque. David Brown quotes a 7.8-second sprint to 62 mph.

Subtlety isn't part of the Oselli's vocabulary. Its free-flowing exhaust system makes it louder than a standard Mini, and it turns heads with black exterior accents, racing stripes, LED headlights, and a mesh grille with integrated driving lights.

13-inch alloy wheels come standard; they're available in either graphite or gold.

Inside, David Brown added sport seats for the front passengers, an Alcantara-upholstered Sabelt steering wheel, and a Pioneer infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity.

Power steering, USB ports, air conditioning (which, oddly, blows through vents that look like they're from a Mercedes-Benz), and power-operated windows are standard.

Remember the Mini Remastered we tested a couple of years ago? It’s latterly transformed into a James Bond-inspired edition, and now this: the performance-focused Oselli Edition. And that’s very exciting news indeed.

Hand-built from the ground up by the people who brought you the bizarre David Brown Speedback GT, it’s the most powerful Mini Remastered yet thanks to performance enhancements from British engine tuning specialists Oselli Engineering.

Powered by a 1,450cc A-series engine with twin SU carburettors, a hand-ported and polished cylinder head, strengthened crankshaft and performance-focused camshaft, the result is 123bhp and 113lb ft of torque for a 0-62mph time of 7.8secs.

But the tweaks aren’t just limited to under the bonnet. It also comes with Bilstein sports-tuned suspension, meatier AP Racing brakes, a limited-slip differential, and larger 13-inch alloys wheels with “high-speed-approved” tyres for maximum attack.
