The Official EPL 2010/11 Thread

At work we pass these comments (and far worse ones) as if it's normal... it's like water off a duck's back!

Loserfool is derogatory

It's also true (in today's context). I will now take great offence whenever anyone says Chelski, Chavski or money-bags London Club. It's just disrespectful I tell you. Booooo hooo.

Come on people, it's all meant in jest. No need to get huffy over it.

But never, ever refer to a football club as a rich man's plaything. Now that's just looking for sh-t.

Yes sir, but here on the interwebz, we consider ourselves slightly more enlightened than you in your real life "job". Bah!

Damn straight mofo. I'll pop a cap in yo Arse.

Thoug that was more of a discussion regarding Abramovich's reasoning for buying the club. It was part of a much larger conversation and I didn't see it as a jibe or banter, but something to be refuted in the context of the discussion we were having at the time.

Name calling isn't banter either when it's used constantly, over and over.

I totally understand it when talking about rivals though. Particularly rivals that in a better position than you. It's the human way. What can you do?

Lol. The way things are going, I wonder what they'll call United when they join Leeds in the Championship. Now that's banter.

Well... the way things are going - Liverpool fans will make a name easily enough as they will be there with United. On a positive note - at least you'll be able to continue the derbies without interruption.

Hows that?

Pretty wild assed assumptions. Liverpool will never be relegated.

Eh. Took too long to get to the point, you need to work on the comedic timing a bit. :p

See? You don't get the difference between banter and insults.

Manchester City make £121m loss with wage bill bigger than turnover

Manchester City made a financial loss of £121m in the 12 months to 31 May 2010, the first full year of ownership by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the club will announce today. Their income of £125m was entirely eclipsed by the wage bill which, for all staff, rose to £133m, up from £83m. That meant the club spent £8m more than their entire turnover on wages alone.

The result of Mansour's investment, now up to £500m in all of City's operations – most spectacularly by signing a squad of international players, several on wages of more than £100,000 a week – is the second biggest financial loss in the Premier League's history. The highest was that of Chelsea, who lost £141m in 2004-05, the end of the first full year following the takeover by the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
