The Official NVidia Shield Thread

How did you get your phone to control the shield with google. I don't see it with the native app?
The native App is kak. Pair phone with shield. Go to Google assistant with hey Google. Press top right icon. It then opens "explore". Top right 3 dots, go to settings. Swipe right to assistant. Select Home Control.

When I select home assistant, i don't find the shield even though I have successfully paired it

Download Google home. See if you can add through there.

Thanks. Ok getting there. I can see shield, added it to the room but it doesn't play to it.
This is now when you go to ok Google and follow the steps above. You don't need to do anything in the Google home app anymore.

Same for me, even when casting from my PC (WiFi is definitely not a good option here).
Is there an Aptoide application on your Shield as well? I am trying to avoid unnecessary bloat like that.

I will go the emu route as soon as I buy a big enough flash drive, probably a 128GB.
Yes I have Aptoide installed. Which flash drive are u looking at buying?

Thinking I'm going to use a 160GB external that's laying around here instead.

I don't like the idea of Aptoide and apkure. They add an unnecessary app and the apps are plagued by adware.

Going to use my Samsung T3 250GB.

I tried my 160GB, but I see that once I make it an expandable drive on the Shield, it moves all of Kodi's settings, and some other files over automatically.

Well..... Now that this is set up, the Shield is a bit laggy, and when I try to open DSTV, the Shield says "Can't open this right now."... wtf?

Edit: Ok, I can access DSTV Now through Kodi and from the App menu by long press circle. But I can't open DSTV Now on the customize channels reel on the DSTV icon itself. Odd. Also, not laggy anymore.

Now for RetroArch. I see that there is a normal one, and a 64bit version.

You should checkout Hyperspin, apparently it's the be all end all of frontend for emulators.

I have the same issue but on Redbull. I just formatted mine and installed an SSD.hopefully the lag is gone

I ordered the sdcz800-128G-G46 from Amazon two nights back. Awaiting delivery of same.

The sdcz80, is recommended, but that is the older version and I couldn't find it anywhere. Reviews indicate that the older version is better than the newer sdcz800.

The lag comes from your 250gig hard drive. It is for that reason that they specifically recommend those flash drives.
