The Official RaspberryPi Thread

Well I ordered my Pi on 6 July 2012 and I'm still waiting for it...... Only email I recieved is to say that it will be delayed EVEN MORE. God not even china electronic stores are so pathetic.

Ordered mine on 12 July and also waiting for it. I only got 1 email though, the one you get when the order is placed. Didn't get anything regarding a delay in the order.

Hahahaha! I hope not. Getting impatient.

It did say "Despatch expected within 11 week(s)" so hopefully I'll get it 3 weeks from now.

Sent RSElectronics an email today for an update on my order and they replied with bad news :( Seems I'll only get mine in November FFS!

Did anyone else get the same email?

So i ordered my Raspberry PI from electocomp express after i had **** with RSonline, i ordered on the 18/09/2012 and received my Raspberrt PI today (27/09/2012) i should have ordered from these guys long time ago. Now to start messing around :-)

Yeah Richardxt please lemme know as well how you cancelled your order.

I too emailed them to cancel but no response from them as ye since Tuesday.

It's week 15 now already that I am ef@# waiting.

I phoned them and asked to speak to their Accounts for credit cards (apparently they have different departments for credit card refunds and normal refunds) then i found everyday to ask them is it being done lol.

Speak to Shabana at electrocomp express, she will send you a quote then you do the eft and pickup.

at RS they quoted me 350 i think, at electrocomp express it was 450 incl. which in my opinion is well worth the extra R100.

So i have made some progress in terms of my little project. I wanted to be able to play music in my car wirelessly (specifically in my friends car who has a wall of 15s in his golf, it would look so awesome if he were able to give demos and control the car from his tab outside the car :)).

I first installed Raspbmc RC4 - i got a pre image so it didnt have to go through the long process of updating and installing.

I then started noting the things that happened when plugging in HD's or Flash Drives etc as i would not be able to view this on a monitor in my car.

Everything was working in my room however i needed to get an ad-hoc connection going as everything was connecting through my home wireless lan network and seeing as i cant really bring my router with me i had to go another route. I asked a question in the Raspbmc forum and a guy told me to just use my tablets hotspot and turn the data off (i was unaware of this as i thought the hotspot would not work without a data connection)

So this morning i connected my RCA's running to my amplifier to an AUX cable that splits in to RCA ends. Switched everything on, plugged the flash drive in and started up XBMC remote on my tab. It picked up everything and played the song that i chose, however the quality was a little bit scratchy.
I think i need to get an HDMI into RCA splitter to pick up the quality of the signal or use my equalizer to amplify the signal. But I am so happy that my idea of being able to control whats playing from a couple of feet outside the vehicle!

Pics for my tabs mount and a test vid should be up in a while.
