The Official RaspberryPi Thread

Hey richardxtc....

Just wanna find out if you called S.A. RSonline or did you call the UK one. Could you maybe give me the number you called please.

I received a reply from them on Friday last week that my items would be posted by 3 October but still no tracking number been received yet. So wanna just get my funds back and order from where you did.

I dont have their number however i did phone the SA RSonline and was sent through to their Credit Card Accounts Department which is where i resolved the issue. If you never paid by CC then just ask for their normal accounts department. The lady i spoke to said it takes up to 3 working days.

I am looking to purchase the micro usb power adapter and hdmi cable.
Tried to purchase from RS which has stock - however due to strike issue they are uncertain when they can deliver.

I am in the Durban area.

Does anyone know where I can purchase same locally?

Thanks

Thanks. Just 1 question. The specs for the power supply as per the web site state it should be 700 mA.
Not a techie, but what is the implication of using the blackberry power supply.

Howz bout that...

Murphy's Law ne.

Received mail that my Pi has been despatched, so here's to another 21 day or so wait

RPi case

I made an RPi case from an aluminium "girly tin" which I cut some ports into using a craft knife, and insulated with some cardboard. I'm thinking about converting one of my Atari 2600's into a RPi case, using a powered USB hub so that I can plug portable hard drives in (I use my RPi as media player, running Raspbmc). I have another two RPi's on order, to use for programming and other nefarious uses.

Looks good man dam. How did you cut those holes so smoothly?

On a side note

RC5 Raspbmc update!

RC5 got off to a rocky start, mainly due to bugs in XBMC. The plus side is that these bugs are now fixed:

Fix ‘composite’ no output bug
Fix CPU temp command
Fix PVR client errors
Fix black screen of death after install
libCEC is version 1.9, the wrong library version was bundled in the previous build
Fixed garbled fanart — obviously you’ll need to rescan the broken images to get new ones!
Fixed video addons such as iPlayer that were stuck with a “Working” spinner.

Perhaps I should have said micro USB charger - could be blackberry, nokia, etc. You can go with a generic charger - provided it's good quality and outputs at least minimum spec mA.

Raspberry Pi Ram doubled

http://www.reghardware.com/2012/10/15/raspberry_pi_memory_doubled/

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has upgraded its credit card-sized computer: it now sports 512MB of memory rather than 256MB, but still costs $35 (£22).

Foundation founder Eben Upton promised that anyone who has an outstanding order will receive the upgraded board.

“Units should start arriving in customers’ hands today, and we will be making a firmware upgrade available in the next couple of days to enable access to the additional memory,” he pledged.

Let's hope when I finally get my next board it will have the extra ram on.

Update: Just got confirmation from RS:

However there is some good news regarding the delay, we are now dispatching the 512mb, 2.0 revision boards at no extra cost to you.

Mine will be shipped 26 Nov - 2 Dec.

Fooook dis man. Please tell me which RS you called. A SA number or a UK number?

There's no way I'm accepting that they sent me mail that my item was despatched but that they can't give me a tracking number.

I wanna sort this out today..
