The official running thread™

Pretty easy to cheat the VO2 max, only run 5ks flat out for like a week or 2 or only record those runs. VO2 will rise over 50 easily.

As soon as you do slower runs like recovery runs at 7min/km or play paddle or do weights it will drop again.

Basically feed the algorithm the data it wants. This guy I work with does a few 5ks a week and thinks he is so fit with a vo2max of 52 but did a 10km with me this weekend and was walking at 7km.
Vo2max gives your power, not endurance.

This was actually a fun workout. Excuse the broken screen protector.

Finally the watch changed it up a bit.

Thank you sir  - much appreciated. I will admit the 350th at Thousand Hills came back to bite me during the 21km yesterday. Not my best half-marathon effort but happy to finish at least ☺️

Reckon it's good training for a future Comrades :p

Imagine spending hour after hour after hour training... and then running the actual thing :X3:
Not only that, imagine doing all that training and then picking up an illness or an injury right before the race. I think you almost have two commit to doing it for two years, at least then you don't end up forcing the run if you aren't at your best.

But yeah, maybe one day when am big 🤣

For me I have already decided it will be never. I'm happy doing the occasional 21k. Which is why I'm thinking Zone 2 isn't for me and won't do anything for my park run times which is where I would actually like to improve

Yeah, I went on a mission last year to try and specifically improve my 5km times. Sprint training, both on the flat and on hills worked the best for me.

Now that I am running a bit longer distance I have neglected that and it's a struggle to push the pace like I was doing last year.

All those Zone 2 runs have made mine drop. My pace has actually dropped as well. Think it's time I went back to my old method
Both masekind... both. Zone 2 builds the foundation and then when ready which it sounds like you are then add the interval and threshold training into the mix as well. But keep some easy zone 2 training going as well for best overall results.

Phew... Pirates is at least going to be a bit cooler than what it's been the last few days.
