The the deal is launching on the 23rd for 2 weeks.

Agent says no throttling on this deal, you cannot use your own router. ( hopefully it is true)
A B618 will be provided for this deal and you have to return it if you cancel the deal.


Lets see how it turns out, seems like a really good deal.

MTN network is pretty much the best network in SA.
 
Just called again, lady confirmed you can just upgrade your current package to R999 package.

I asked again she confirmed no FUP or throttling.
 
They are, however, able to throttle you or terminate you if you go against their "idea" of being a network hog. No one knows this figure, and is most probably dependant on the amount of users in your area.

But yup, no soft cap, and no throttling.
 
Thanks for making the thread! I think I will most likely jump ship on the 26-27th after (if) rain makes their announcement and will update here along with others.
 
Currently on Telkom 1TB and this seems way better but curious on tower locking , support says can unlock 3 times but how many times does those 3 opportunities allow you for 3 times a month ?

Like 3 times a year a think, they did unlock Mine few times before. As I used different address to sign up to the capped option, as my area was not officially supported.

I’m just curious as I know this December I will need to take my router on holiday with me

Spoke to supersonic and she did say she’d back to me from her network team so I’ll post here what she says towards the uncapped product
 
Looks like 3rd parties will also offer the deal. Also advertising no fup.

Interesting, anyone dealt with them before? Or do we know if they're both on the same level of customer service? (Hard to tell most times since hellopeter and Twitter is filled to the brim with negative reviews for almost every major ISP hehe)

yeah I can believe that, whatever the reason(s) may be, luckily since MTN would be doing the heavy lifting here the choice would be who would give the less headaches with ordering, billing and alternative support between the two.
 
Terms and conditions is on website now.

Still says no shaling or throttling.

Bad thing is this deal only valid 24months, it will move back to capped offering after that. But they have the right to shorten this period or extend it.
 
It looks a bit broken when I try to sign up.. also it doesnt state anything about what router will be included, does anyone have any confirmation on this?

Spoke to a guy by the name of Smanga, absolutely pleasure speaking to him. He explained that it is indeed a 24 month contract, the upgrade takes 3 to 5 working days to process and that there is line throttling in terms of download speeds but they didn't say after how many gb they would throttle the line.

I took the jump and upgraded, hopefully it's worth it.
