The Official Xiaomi Thread

So I've downloaded all files need and gotten the code to unlock bootloader, just not sure if I should flash Lineage. Those who have, can you give me some insight.
I went this route after much contemplation and I went the Lineage route. I couldn't be happier. Phone is a bit faster, battery lasts longer, plus all the new features of Oreo 8.1 :D

Also is there an app or functionality like second space for lineage?
I have not seen such a function in Oreo or Lineage, but there is an App call Parallel Space you can use, there is a free version with Ads, but buying it well worth it.

Hmmm if they had official lineage 15 (Oreo) i think the decision would be easy but for the Note 4 (Mido) there's only Lineage 14 (Nougat).

Is it worth it? Or are the changes minor and not really worth the trouble? Forget about the bloatware since I've seen that's a huge reason to flash for some People. It doesn't bother me.

Note 4x.

I have the Note 4. My only reason for moving was because of the bloat - thought I'd comment anyway. I do enjoy the clean UI of stock Android, and having the choice of what apps I want installed. I can't say that I experience any better battery life though, it's just as good as it was with MIUI.

Getting Xiaomi to unlock the bootloader was a problem for me. I think the flashing Gods were not smiling on me that day. Can't really blame the process though, was just unfortunate circumstances. If I remember correctly, my experience was as follows:

- I downloaded all the software I needed, then start the process of trying to unlock the bootloader
- App denies me, google the error like mad
- Thought I Figured out the problem. Restart my phone, change a few settings, then it wants me to sign into my Xiaomi account again.
- Try sign in, get more cryptic errors. See a lot of people saying that I should reset my phone, then try sign into my account. Try that, get denied again. It turned out after even more googling that Xiaomi's servers were down.
- After monitoring forums, people start saying that the servers are coming back up. I rejoice, sign in successfully, and start the process again
- Get another fongkong error, which roughly translated means I had to wait 3 days after signing into my Xiaomi account before unlocking the bootloader

It wasn't fun at all.

Whats the diff between Mi Band 2 International Version and Chinese Version. Except for the R140 price diff

Hi guys, I unfortunately don't have the time to scan through this thread to see if this topic has been discussed before so I would appreciate it if anyone can assist me with the following.
A friend of mine got a Xiaomi Mi6 from China that was brought over by a family member. The problem we are currently sitting with is that we are unable to locate a lot of the apps that one can find on Google Play store on the Xiaomi's app store.
We have been able to download Facebook and Whatsapp from the app store but we are unable to locate Instagram, is there anyway of downloading Instagram on the phone? Is it as easy as downloading the instagram APK file from the internet and installing it?

Please note that I am a total noob when it comes to cellphone software or whatever you might call it. Someone has suggested that we can "flash" the phone to enable us to download the Google play store and get rid of all the Chinese settings but I honestly do not have an idea on how to do that and I also don't know if it will even work...

I will appreciate it if anyone can please assist me with this.

Regards

Sounds like you have the Chinese rom. Read up about unlocking bootloader to load the global rom or flash to load custom roms

Hi Guys

I just got my new Xiaomi Mi 6 and I want to update the software.

If I download the Global Rom from here - MIUI 9.jpg

And if I follow this steps - MIUI 9 2.jpg

Will it reload a fresh copy of it. Without any Chinese language.

Globel rom usually includes multiple languages so it will also have chinese.

Hi

This is the rom that is installed on the phone - Screenshot_2018-03-22-16-31-33-618_com.android.settings.jpg

Is this an official rom?

If I follow the above mentioned steps in updating this rom will there be any problem with my phone after?

I'm using the global developers rom, been getting updates every Friday, no major issues.
