The Official Xiaomi Thread

As keen as I am to go for the Poco F3, I'd recommend waiting and keeping an eye on XDA to see how things go.. Seeing quite a few reported issues, such as:

Screen dimming issues as well.

Was planning on getting the Xiaomi Redmi 9 for the better half from Everyshop (R2599 after R100 first-time discount), only to be met with:

This sucks :(
I've tried selecting 10 random residential addresses across the country (CPT, PTA, JHB, DBN, BFN) and all of them give the above error. That's pretty sketchy, to say the least.

I'd say they're getting ready to launch the Redmi Note 10 series, I noticed the 9 Pro was off MIA's website as well.

You know it’ll likely cost you more than an iPhone 12 Pro or Samsung S21+?
Yes, but so does the Samsung s21 ultra and yet there are many people buying it. Also I see Xiaomi has different price points in different countries for the same global model. Like pricing in the EU is higher than Malaysia which higher than India. So who knows what pricing will be like in SA. One can only speculate until we eventually receive it locally.

I’d take the €1200 price as the best guide, once duty and tax is added. It’s a LOT of money for a Xiaomi.

Hopefully they will be launching the Mi 11 Ultra. I'd prefer to buy it locally. Sigh.
Never gonna happen.

You and only a handful of people in this country will pay such cash pricing for a phone. The rest who want to own a flagship, do so via network contracts. Unless a network agrees to offer a Xiaomi flagship, it won't make business sense for MIA to bring them in.

Disclaimer: I have the cash for a flagship but choose not to spend that kind of money and nor do I want a cell contract...

CellC be bothering and pestering me again for a contract and a new phone to go with it.

Not interested. I'm happy with the way things are - data-only SIM (with occasional SMS topup) and my Redmi Note 8.

What's so funny about that is that they punt the phone with the data/airtime bundle as if it's *the* deal you can't afford to miss...

Fake special, also tried two different addresses with the same error.

Maybe they must ad that only people in that city is allowed to order, so that you know do not even bother.

It seems a bit bait-and-switchy to me. Advertise a very good special, get users to sign up, and get them to spend money on an alternative product because they try to entice you with a R100-off voucher only valid for the first x number of users.

In any case, I went with the old faithful and got a Redmi 9T 128GB off Takealot which should be a nice jump from her Samsung A6+.

Hi everyone, i want to order the mi 10s from giztop and i was wondering if anyone knew which courier they used for their 'express shipping" option and if it actually takes 7-10 days to be delivered?

They use DHL. Allow +/- 14 days. You will pay customs.

But why are you buying a non global variant. Once MIUI 12,5 is out, you will not be able to use GAPPS.

Alright, thanks

I was planning to migrate to the eu rom immediately after getting the phone to avoid that situation.

Looks like a decent enough "smartwatch" for a really attractive price, 55 USD (~768 ZAR).

If they’d made the strap a little bit wider it would have looked even more like an Apple Watch than it does ;).
