The Official Xiaomi Thread

Hi Guys, Just need some info, ordered the Poco F3 from Amazon Germany, 3rd party seller on Friday 25th of June, been waiting for updates on tracking and recieved one now with the tracking number from DHL Express.

Seeing how antsy i am and how urgently i need this phone:

1) how long does it take to ship from Seville Spain to my door? Amazon has expected delivery of 16th of July, is there a chance i can get it delivered before then?
2) I know that amazon pays the customs and duties ect, but i did pay a really low price compared to the other ones i was looking at, is there any chance of me needing to pay anything else before they give me the phone?

1. That depends on Amazon themselves, when I ordered my Mi 9T in 2019 it took about 10 days from order to in my hands. But I think yours might be a little longer due to Covid and all of that.

2. Amazon handles all the custom fees, so the price you paid is all you'll have to pay. Also, sometimes the custom fees can be lower than Amazon states on their site(I think they use the highest case scenario, I'm not sure though), and if that's the case, Amazon will refund you the difference; in my case I had to pay just over R1300 in customs initially then I got a refund of R530 afterwards.

Edit: Mine was also fulfilled by Amazon so that's why I didn't have to pay anything extra as it was handled by them

If it's from a 3rd party you'll have to cover taxes and customs. Amazon only cover it if it's directly from them

Thanks @Suspect99 The DHL app just updated the delivery date to the 6th of July so thats good news, It said that DHL needed to contact the shipper to get some certificate not sure for what though. I did check my order on amazon and i did pay an import fees deposit im guessing that should cover the customs (fingers crossed)

Ok if you paid the deposit then you should be good. I paid for a laptop recently from a third party, but it didnt include the normal deposit, so I had to pay the customs myself.

The import fees deposit is for customs, they take a little bit more than necessary to make sure it's covered then they'll refund the difference back to you once the process is complete

If i may ask, why did you order from Amazon Germany, cheaper there than UK?

Yup at the time of me searching i had settled on buying from giztop, then the amazon prime day sales came out so said id head over there to have a look, unfortunatly the Poco F3 wasnt part of the sale, anyway I checked every amazon store that shipped to SA, the cheapest was Germany through a 3rd party seller and if you check above it came to R5404 total with shipping

Alright, that makes sense. Awesome value for the price you paid. Hope everything goes smoothly with the delivery and enjoy your Poco.

The 9A pricing is not too bad, if you're willing to settle for 32Gb....

Rest of the pricing is not too shabby either.
Size creep in apps has been terrible lately.

When I got my 64GB RN8, it had around 35GB free after all my stuff was loaded (March 2020).

Now? 18GB available and that was after I did a factory reset about a month ago.

I suppose the note 9 pro is still a better device, although I wouldnt mind the extra storage space
I'm still waiting for the Redmi Note 10 to launch.

I'm willing to go to Xiaomi based on price.

I feel that Xiaomi need to work on their UI & fix software issues(like some of you mentioning that notifications don't show up etc)

Samsung is overpriced. They spend way too much on marketing but their software update schedule has improved dramatically.

I have an old A30. It consistently receives security updates & I received Android 11 recently. One UI 3.1 is excellent.

The amoled screen & pricing will convert me to a Xiaomi customer. They are taking too long to launch the new Redmi series though

I wish Xiaomi was available on contract in SA, their high end offerings at least, I have noticed some really low end stuff on contract.
The notifications not working happens on all phones, my iPhone does it at least once a day.
I dont expect there to be much in the lines of new releases considering there is a global microprocessor shortage and Covid is wreaking havoc everywhere.

Xiaomi have previously said that they operate at a loss with their mobile hardware, compared to some other brands I can imagine that to be true.
