Tried this, still the same. Its as if the phone now has the memory of a goldfish. I can go out of any app for 5sec, when going back I have to start from the beginning again.

Its not just tapatalk, its everything, banking, browsers etc etc.

It only started happening after the software upgrade
 
Looks like you have the latest available version. Maybe try download and reinstall - you should be able to do that from Settings>About phone>tap on the MIUI version square image, then the 3 dots on top right

Thanks, will give it a go and report back. Completely forgot you can download the package again.

Thanks for the assistance but its still doing the same thing. Will do some research and see if there are any other users of the same phone with the same problem.

Best to start checking on GSMArena with the user comments on your phone model. And than investigate further :thumbsup:.
 
I also got a Redmi Note 8 with the latest 12.5.1 MIUI version. I don't experience the problems discussed here.
Unfortunately, I cannot give any assistance to solve the problems.
 
Even though they mention beta, we are getting close to having MIUI13 and android 12
Rumor has it Xiaomi is planning to release MIUI 13 to the global user base on January 26, alongside the global release of the Redmi Note 11 series.

Just got an update for the Redmi 9t - first one since August / September. Version number is now 12.5.6.0, android 11.

Security update (nice!), some UI changes (the control panel icons are huge now), haven't noticed anything else.

It would be nice if they just packaged the security update and made it available on their website to flash instead of downloading 2.6Gb OTA.
 
If you pull down on the left of the home screen, you get notifications, on the right you get the control centre. That's kinda neat.

Turn off battery optimization for that app.
