The Official Xiaomi Thread

If you're having battery problems with a custom roms like PE, crDroid, etc - then it's typically due to the Playstore battery polling issue.

Then run this from Terminal (requires root) to fix the problem by disabling the GmsIntentOperationService service.
(if you don't have Terminal, then you can grab Terminal Emulator from the App store)

su -c pm disable com.google.android.gms/.chimera.GmsIntentOperationService

This reduced battery drain significantly on 5 devices that I "maintain" for family.
That is exactly the issue that causes the battery drain but I'm trying to avoid rooting my phone and having to install other stuff so my banking app can run.

Magisk works fine with most banking apps.

Install that, and rename a copy to magisk.zip

Flash magisk.zip from TWRP/Orange recovery.

Now you'll be able to run terminal and disable the service.
Can remove magisk again afterwards too, but magiskhide shouldn't interfere with banking apps.

Thanks for this, I believe TWRP is not supported on this phone (not sure why, maybe because it's Mediatek?) so there is another procedure using Magisk to patch a boot.img and then install. I'll wait for the (hopefully) upgrade to Android 13 and then give it a bash.

Ouch, ja I'm not clued up on Mediatek options- I usually stick to snapdragon SOC for custom rom purposes since Mediatek isn't really supported well in general.

Wife got a Xiaomi Note 10 Pro from work. Her phone was stolen in the office so company replaced for her. They bought it from Vodacom.

2nd SIM slot is physically blocked off in the SIM Tray so she can't use her data only SIM now.
Phone box has 2 IMEI numbers on the box. 2nd one was covered by a white sticker.

Dialling *#06# also only shows the one IMEI number.

Can I unlock the second SIM via software if I also get a SIM tray with both SIM slots open?

Turns out you don't need to do anything clever to install Magisk - guys on the Pixel Experience forum helped me out with it.

Yes, apparently it can be done and someone has done it. It's either somewhere in this thread or the Xiaomi Note 10 thread. Issue is that the Vodacom run their own version of the global MIUI on the phones which is they can block the second sim. You will see the MIUI version ends in SKFZAVC. You will have to get rid of this version and reflash the proper Global version. Then you can purchase a dual sim for the phone.

I think someone on this thread has done what you're describing, maybe your search skills are better than mine. If you have the appropriate tray then you should be able to get the second SIM working by flashing a different stock MIUI ROM.

So my Mi9 battery has been lacking for a while, Accubattery and Aida64 show just under 2000mah from the original 3300. I get about 6-8 hours of use per charge, note I don't mean sot, just normal use.
I'm flashed with CR Droid and i'm happy with it, not looking on spending $$ on a new phone so I think a battery replacement is due.

Any recommendations ? I don't mind doing it myself This battery seems good, not sure if package will arrive in SA though.

Have a note 8 and note 9 pro that have started to randomly restart and go into a bootloop. It doesn't get past the startup logo. And holding vol/pwr to get into the fastboot menu doesn't help either. Sometimes it reboots before you can make the selection. But then it will just keep going into the same bootloop again.

No idea what to do. Tried most of the stuff online without success. Only thing that works is to wait for it die and then it will restart normally after being off for a while.

One post did say that replacing the camera module on the n9pro sorted the issue for them, but hoping to find another solution before trying that.

Anyone else had this issue?

It was me :)

It's pretty much what @riscbroker said.
I can help out if you need more in depth details.

Awesome!

Thanks @Old_Liver . I'm sourcing a Dual Sim Tray and when that arrives I will really appreciate if you can guide me just a bit.

Last time I flashed Roms or anything was Cyanogenmod with my Samsung Galaxy S2

Any recommendations for a new phone? I currently have a redmi note 8 and need to upgrade. Ideally I wouldn't want something that is a lot bigger if possible. Must be dual SIM also with a decent camera seeing as the note 8 camera is kak.
I dont use a phone for gaming or watching movies on etc, just general browsing, WhatsApp, those kind of things
