The Official Xiaomi Thread

Since there hasn't been any other substantiated posts so far, I'm not going to substantiate either but simply say "Friends don't let friends buy Mediatek".

They've been slower to fix and more prone to attacks / security flaws from what I've seen (as well as comparing google results on the topic).
Mediatek custom rom support is also dismal compared to Qualcomm based phones in general.

So I just applied a 2.2G patch. Seems it updated miui and also included a security patch:

Unfortunately it broke all my widgets. They appear on the screen but are not functional.

I have deleted and reloaded them but it did not help.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm having this issue on my Poco F3. The culprit is the Poco Launcher.

Go into settings, apps, find Poco Launcher, clear cache and force close.

Go back to home and everything will refresh. Widgets will then work for a couple of weeks.

Rinse. Repeat.

Nova Launcher can be your friend ;)

I decided to go with the Redmi Note 10 pro. Any recommendations as to which ROM to load? Something not trying to call back to China and has Google services or is it easier to just install Blokade and leave as is?

Unless you particularly want a custom ROM, you could install the MIUI EU version (your phone will likely have the Global version, full of ads and bloat) then set Adguard as private DNS. The only ads I ever see are those in YouTube.

Anyone had the black screen of death? My friends Redmi 9t just went off and never came back on. No drops on the phone, no overcharging. Phone is just off. Took off the back cover and disconnected and reconnecting the battery and screen ribbon but nothing.

Has never happened to me but please update when you have an answer. I use a Poco M3 which has the same internals.

See my post a few months ago.

Had the same issue and several other people also reported it.

Phone is still going. But we gave it to one of the kids to play games on and watch YouTube. Wife upgraded on her contract to an Oppo.

Really easy to do so give it a shot.

Can you direct me to a YouTube video that does this?

Would prefer trying this then giving it to one of the Pakistan cell phone repair shops because they have no idea about Xiaomi

"As per YouTube instructions.

Opened up and took the phone apart to expose bottom of motherboard.
Opened up the PMIC module.
Applied solder flux and heated it up with wife's hairdryer (no heat gun here).
Put everything back together and lo and behold it started up again."

Here you go.

I followed the instructions on this video.

Good luck.
