The Official Xiaomi Thread

Not sure if the cameras really were better, had the note 10 and 11, apparently had 108mp cameras and quality wasn't as good as my p30 pro 48mp

that 108mp camera from Xiaomi was known to be a big pile of steaming utter Cr@p - in fact IMHO the photos i used to take with my PocoF1 using Gcam used to look better than what my Samsung Galaxy S24FE musters up now and that phone is ancient but opening those pictures up on my PC the pictures look smoother and more vibrant and vivid than what the Sammy with the Sammy software can manage

You could get some decent shots with them, but you had to just play with it a bit.
Gcam was better than the stock app as well.

i tried to make the new Samsung version of GCam work on the S24FE but it just did not like it somehow - the software just kept closing - and i checked and double checked as well as triple checked to see if i downloaded the correct Samsung version for One UI6.1 and there was nothing wrong with my downloading prowess ..... but i failed in making GCam work in the Sammy

I was referring to the Xiaomi, haven't tried gcam since I've been off Xiaomis :)

i did realize that ...... and yep Xiaomi to me had some of the better camera's out of the phones i used - thank god i managed to avoid those 108mp jobbies that everyone hates

and GCam was brilliant in combo with the Xiaomi - made the camera a bit better than it performed with the stock camera app BUT as i said above i cant see how the Sammy compares - if i wanted a pure camera phone then the Xiaomi 15 is the one i would go for

It is a pity that we do not really get flagship Chinese phones from the networks. The Chinese have overtaken Samsung in the camera department a couple years go. I had a poor UI experience with a Poco X3 GT in 2022 but it sounds as if their flagships do not have ads baked into their stock apps, like the file manager.

I am tired of Samsung's slow shutter speed and generally sh*tty camera hardware compared to their rivals. Most competitors have bigger main sensors while sporting telephoto camera modules that are almost twice as big as Samsung's offerings. The worst offenders are Samsung's Ultras. Okay, Samsung's processing does a decent job to make up for the inferior hardware but it can only do so much.

Tariffs will affect American consumers.

nope - eventually the effects will trickle down to the rest of the world - when strong economies start to die they take many, many others with them - somehow the entire world will be affected as long as the Dollar is the the primary reserve currency (short term may be good for the rest of the world BUT long term its going to eat away at the world ..... especially for those countries who are in debt to USA) ...... SA also owes lots of debt to Russia and China who will also be affected in the Tarriff merry go round - so its a mistake to keep thinking that its only going to affect the US

besides China is also imposing retaliatory tarriffs against the US and thats going to affect China big time ..... guess where Xiaomi the company that is the subject of this particular discussion is based ...... China will also have to try and claw back a lot of the money owed to them in order to counteract what this tarriff war was becoming before it was paused, but if it goes back on ..... the whole world will be affected and will start losing

The US is like 1% of their market. US tariffs won't even make a dent to them. Their largest markets by far are various Asian countries.

China imposing counter tariffs would affect the price of US goods being sold in China. How would this impact Xiaomi?

okay .... maybe i'm wrong about the tarriff thing ...... but the guy can still self import the higher end Xiaomi models

There's a new chip in town...

The key highlight of the Xiaomi 15S Pro and its notable difference is undoubtedly the SoC under the hood. The Xiaomi 15 Pro is a cutting edge Android flagship that packs Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite. However, the Xiaomi 15S Pro is the first from the company to feature the XRing O1 chipset. This is an in-house processor that even managed to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Elite on AnTuTu.

F7 Ultra is on TAL. Just snagged one. Don't think there's a cheaper SD 8 Elite phone for sale...

very nice ..... congrats - you will probably enjoy it since the specs seem amazing - closer to a top tier phone at a midrange price

Thanks. Yeah the only thing missing compared to the S25 Ultra is the stylus, LTPO screen and eSim. And I'm not paying R10k more for that. And the Samsungs don't come with fast charging and silicon carbon batteries...

How much did you pay?
Was it in stock?
Who was the seller?

I see there are some listed with a 4-6 Days delivery from "Trendex"
R16k for the 12GB/256GB model.

And then a week later they put the 16GB/512GB up for sale for R1k more. FML.

Yep, that's the seller. If you want one that's in stock then it looks like the 256GB is...
