The Official Xiaomi Thread

But what is Magisk? Magisk is currently the best alternative to Chainfire’s SuperSU. Developed by XDA developer*topjohnwu, Magisk is in fact much better than SuperSU in some aspects. No wonder it is becoming the default choice of custom ROM developers. Unlike SuperSU which only grants or denies root permissions for specific apps, Magisk can hide root from an app completely. Meaning that banking app or Pokemon GO that you couldn’t get to work on your rooted device can work if you’re rooted with Magisk.

Cool, I've just installed magisk and using root checker I can see my mi6 is indeed rooted, gave me the grant/deny pop up for root checker. Tested the DStv apps and they don't even pickup that my device is rooted so they're working 100%.

I'm using it and Standard Bank's app still works. The only instance I've seen where root breaks apps, is my mate who works for Standard Bank, I don't know what apps or email they use but no matter what I did those apps still pick up that the device is rooted.

Apparently the third batch of MIUI 9 updates are rolling out which include the Note 2 and 3 devices.

The pricing on the Note 5A is ridiculous. It should be around 2000

I am on MIUI 9.1.1.0 International, on a Xiomi 5s plus and want to downgrade to the latest MIUI 7.x.x.x
What is the best way to do that without loosing any of my data?

Two questions :

Any good, alternative ROM's for the Redmi 4A?

How can I downgrade to an older version? Seems the upgrade(s) borked something on the way... :( battery life's not as good as it once were, and I had an upgrade recently.

Yes, my Xiaomi Note 4 updated to MIUI GLOBAL 9.2 yesterday

My Mi Max 2 updated to MIUI 9.0 in October or November...forget now
Is the ANT+ fixed? Does the generic driver from PlayStore work again? On 9.1 1.1 Global is still not working :(

Got a Redmi 4X today. I came from a Samsung S3 Mini, which was a sack of $hit when it launched, and 5 years later, it's an even bigger sack of $hit. Glad to be using a decent modern phone again, and it's a damn good one for the price point, but it's got that traditional Android bloat that most manufacturers insist on including. I'm really not digging MIUI. I wish they could have made an Android One version of the 4X. I had my eye on the Mi A1 because of that, but its just too big for me.

Has anyone here flashed their Redmi 4X, and if you have, which ROM did you go for? I see that LineageOS, AOSPExtended and Resurrection Remix all seem to be the most popular. The Lineage release isn't an official release though, while the others are. How difficult is it to do, and what are the pros and cons versus staying on MIUI? MIUI is quite RAM intensive, chowing around 1.8GB without any apps in the background. I assume ROMs based off of stock would be much lighter.

Old REDMI

I confess to not going through all the hundreds of posts ( except for the most recent )
I was not / am not a big smart phone user so could quite easily have missed a bunch of stuff

I purchased on special sale ( sealed box ) a XIAOMI Redmi 2 LTE from Incredible ( R1,000.00 )
I understand that it is a really old phone but it works fine for my limited purposes and I am quite happy with it

A few questions ......

Has the MUI 9 Global stable rom been released for this phone ?
Currently on MUI 9 global 7.11.16 Beta which is NOT being upgraded.

What would be the newer replacement for this [basic] model -- the MiA1 looks really nice but perhaps overkill for me ?

Thanks

Xiaomi Redmi 4A.

Whatsapp says it's a test version. I've uninstalled it, and reinstalled. Shows latest version, yet still insists it is a test version.

Yesterday evening I got this :

Now I can't use whatscrapp at all. Think I may just go over to Telegram and sod the rest.

Any of you guys also having this funky and cool issue?

Haha welcome to the S3 mini club. Also had one, and it drove me absolutely  Utter POS phone.
Still got it. Thinking of getting a new screen + battery, then get ookson to help me fix it, and let him have it.
