The Official Xiaomi Thread

I have mixed feelings regarding the 2.5D screen. I will be installing the tempered glass screen protector tonight but I am worried it doesn't cover the edges as nice as with the Note 2

Gone trough 4 different tempered glass covers cause OCD. None go edge to edge and those that do doesn't follow the tilt of the screen. If you do find one lemme know.

Tried one from Takealot, import ASLING for note 4X and Nillkin for 4 and 4X. Funny enough the Nillkin for Note 4 works well on a MK Note 4 but not the 4X SD version.

I bought the one that's like a faceplate and 9h. Goes edge to edge. Only issue is the middle of the screen had a rainbow effect when screen is off. I must check that guys screen to see if it went away.

I feel your pain. I got home early so I quickly installed my Makibe 0.3mm 9H screen that I also bought from Geekbuying way back when. As expected the protector doesn't go right to the edges, but it will do for now (and the stock matte protector was irritating me) until I find something that completely covers the screen. I will see if I can find one with a better fit and post up on here :)

Addendum:

I noticed the two covers I purchased for the Note 4 should, in theory, be compatible with the 4X and the MTK-based version as there are cutouts at the top for the infrared port to be positioned either in the centre or towards the side. So it would seem that most suppliers have a one-size-fits-all solution to the different placement of the IR blaster when it comes to the RN4. That said, it is a shame to keep the phone in a cover as it's a good looking phone but I would hate for it to get scratched...

Addendum to the addendum: I am reading conflicting reports as to whether the Redmi Note 4 has Doze activated so I will be monitoring the battery life tonight when I get to bed. It is currently 100% charged and I am keen to see the drainage overnight

Agreed.

Sometimes I wish all phones had interchangeable modular parts, like Lego or something :D

I have heard that the charging ports on the Redmi Note 2 are finicky at the best of times (mine is with certain chargers, sometimes it doesn't make proper contact) but from what I saw last night it is a small logic board that houses the charging port and should be an easy thing to swap out. The first result on eBay is one for ~R74 including international shipping, so I don't know if it may be worth your while to have it replaced?

That sucks, wonder if that is what happened to my mother in laws one, she went in to get the screen replaced, guy couldn't get it to charge, sure she hasn't worked on it for a couple of weeks waiting on the screen to arrive. Actually got Zasttra to deliver the screen and the protector.

No idea Lupus. It sounds like maybe the guy doing the repair borked it somehow? Unless the battery is so flat that it doesn't want to accept charge? Did she try using the Xiaomi charger bundled with the phone?

In other news, I am flabbergasted at the battery life of the RN4 vs my old RN2:

By this time of day I would be running on my last 20% with the RN2 :(

Well wasn't joking when I said in Note 4 Thread that after 2 days I have 38% left. Bluetooth, Wifi and whatnot all on.:)

Glad you enjoying the new life.

To be honest I thought you were being truthful but I thought that maybe you had severely less usage per day than me but even with my semi-heavy usage it seems to last forever. The fingerprint unlock is handy although it isn't habit to use it yet. I am liking having DT2W available, as I missed that coming from my Lumia 1320 to the RN2 at the time

I'll see how the RN4 is doing for my wife, then maybe sell my LG G4 and also get a Xiaomi. If I can get at least 2 days of battery that would be awesome. My G2 wasn't too bad, but this G4.......

On the RN3 I get a day and maybe a bit. On my G4 I got a half a day. I'm on 48% now and I've played games, watched videos and normal usage. Took it off charge at 1am.
Yeah I've asked her to bring the phone and we'll try the Note 2 battery we have from my wife's.

My fist Redmi Note 4 (MK) was sold to a friend that had a LG G4 since launch. I bought the Note at the same time as my Mi5 so told him to play with the Note 4 while I see if I like the Mi5. Well I had to buy a new Note 4 for myself as I was never gonna see the other one again :D

I think he sold his old LG G4 for R2500, so he actually got a new phone for next to nothing.

Yeah I think once I've gotten it repaired I'll probably sell mine as well.

This pleases me...

I just ordered a new Back/up/down button for my G4 and Screen/Digitizer replacement for my G2 (finally it is affordable =) ) from Zasttra. Hopefully I get it and can then maybe think of selling mine too.

Ordered the Mi Max on Tuesday, wanted to give my Redmi Note 3 to the wife, as she has problems with her phone. Now she's looking at nabbing the Max when it lands.

I should give this Zasstra a try. They seem to sell replacement parts but are they drop shippers in essence or do they carry local stock?

@beans100, we need a review once you have the Max please :)

@RedViking, how is your wife liking the Xiaomi so far?

Not really sure, they ordered from China for my two products, my only concern is the screen for the Redmi Note 3, it doesn't say if it's the Kate or the Kenzo version :-(. I want to order two as these screens aren't the strongest.

Some are local stock some are not. One of the items I ordered is not local so I will probably have to wait 4 weeks +. Luckily I am not in too much of a hurry.
