The Official Xiaomi Thread

I've cut three of my sims to nano without any hassles. Just use a template and it should work no problem.

Ok thanks. Will try. Nothing to lose really as I will have to get a new SIM in anycase. May save me some money and standing in an MTN shop queue.

Exactly what I thought before I cut mine. Saved me money and most importantly time.

Yip, this. But you should be fine. DIY'ed mine and my wife's without hassle. Download the template, sticky tape sim on and cut. Pro tip: cut on the lines or slightly outside. You can easily trim more off if it is too tight for the tray slot.

Telkom mobile it's free, Freaking Vodacom R63 to switch over it's like wtf!!
Also have any of you guys done the sim-card/mem card hybrid thing?

You now can get your hands on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 from Afrihost for R3599.00 with 500MB data per month for 12 months.

It seems to be the Redmi Note 4 Global edition as it has Bluetooth 4.1, whereas the 4X has Bluetooth 4.2 (see the table in AlphaJohn's thread for more info regarding different versions). I have also amended the OP with links to local retailers and fixed some of the formatting here and there

Is the Xiaomi Mi5 for $200 (from Gearbest, shipping excluded) worth it?

I have one as a back-up phone. Using Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x as primary cause of huge Battery.

Mi 5, is a very nice phone, snappy and great price.
Camera is not the best for low light and glass back is very slippery so would recommend you get a cover with it.

How is the battery live of the Mi5? I like the notes just a bit big for me :(

Its ok but you going to have to charge it every day.
I got about a day on a charge with 35%-40% left vs my Note 4's 3-4 days on a charge.

Side Note:
The Note 4 is not really that big to be honest. Used a Moto G3 Sony Z2 and iPhone 4 before so wanted something in the 5" range that why I bought the Mi5 as my primary. The Note 4's battery surprised me so much and the actual phone size was about the same size as my Moto G + flip cover so it became my primary. I had to give up the flip cover to keep size small, opted for a thin solid cover with texture and it works for me.

Cool thanks. I really want the big battery. How is the Redmi 4 Prime? I see it has more or less the same specs as the Note 4x but 5" instead of 5.5"?

MIUI update. Anyone get it yet?

I received this update last night on my RN4. Small one, about 30MB:

My son has the Redmi 4 Prime. I haven't seen a Note 4, but the Prime is impressive - nice size and snappy enough. And that battery just keeps going forever...

Even looking at the One Plus 5 with envy... Once I see 3000mAh I just get put off.

Right now, for me, it's battery life over everything as mid rangers are more than capable in other aspects.

RN4X also go that yesterday. Still waiting for 7. I know its been part of MIUI RN4X Dev ROM since March, but wonder if they planning to bring it to stable or they going to wait for MIUI 9, which I see has multi app support among other nice goodies that I want.

Edit: Ok, Note 4 getting Android 7 with MIUI 9 and release might even be in July.

Ditto! I doubt I could go back to a handset with worse battery life.

Interesting...hoping for the best!

Just a quick question, do you all buy your covers and screen protection from Chinese shops like gearbest? Or is there some local place I can buy? Ordered myself the Mi5.
