Video Review:

Price: Depends on shop of choice, but I can say if its over $200 you paying to much. Shop around as there is specials all over the place

In SA expect to pay R3600 when bought direct from Xiaomi ZA

Note: The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (SD625) will work on all networks but will lack LTE on Cell C. If you on Cell C go for MTK or 4X instead. Source: Note 4 (SD) vs Note 4X

Question: Would I upgrade from Note 3 - to Note 4.
Answer: No. It is a more refined phone with very small tweaks that is not really worth the money to buy a new phone that is 6 months to a year older. I would much rather wait for Note 5.

Question: Would I upgrade from Note 2
Answer: Hell yes.

Is there anyone Xiaomi Redmi note 4X owners here?

I have a problem getting a good screen protector. Problem is that the thicker ones seem to lift around the edges doesn't matter what I do. If you have one that works with the curves on the edges please let me know so that I know which one to order.

Edit: Ok lucky my Nillkin back cover came with a screen protector (Did not notice when I bought it) that does not suffer the same fate around the edges. Also did not have this problem on the Nillkin Tempered Glass Screen Film on my Note 4.

For future note. On Note 4X, do not get an Asling screen protector as it doesn't follow the curves around the edges of a Note 4X. Click here to see image of the problem.

A colleague took delivery of his today, truly stunning phone I must say, these Chinese phones are right there with the mainstream Apples, Samsungs, LGs etc...

It feels like it is built to last a long time this phone.

I have a free clear soft cover for anyone with a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Not the 4X) in Randburg.

PM me for my work address in case you want to come pick it up.

Why would you go for the 4 if the 4X is newer(unless you get the 4 way cheaper)?

Is there anywhere local stocking these yet?

Unless its gray, not that I know of.

Bar price, The Note 4 (MTK) I can understand if you want the extra speed at the cost of battery life, but not so much the Note 4 (SD) as its the 4X with less LTE Bands. Maybe a reason could be that the Note 4 (MTK/SD) is on MIUI8.2 (Android 7) where the Note 4X only got MIUI8.2 (Android 6) this week, with no indication when 4X will be getting Android 7.

That said, there is nothing wrong with the Note 4 (SD) either, the only limitation for the Note 4 (SD) in RSA is no LTE on Cell C. So if you can get 4(SD) cheaper than 4X and on Vodacom/MTN go for it.

Gray as in imported strangely and not as in the colour, I take it?

Grey means "imported from another country through channels other than the maker's official distribution system." Or they maybe referred to as parallel imports. Generally this is done where the local distributor supplies a slightly different version of the same device. If there is no official distributor then they are just imports, not grey imports.

Thanks for the clarification.

That's why, for example, Takealot often have brand name items like perfume available at massive discounts as grey imports, then?

The Note 4x is a great phone and has even greater battery life.
For the price you cannot go wrong.

Why no support for Cell C LTE on the RN4 SD625? I thought Cell C were using Band 1 (2100MHz) for LTE which appears to be covered in your table? I am able to use Cell C LTE on my Uhans A101 Mediatek MTK6737 based phone.

I am going by https://www.frequencycheck.com/carr...n-dual-sim-td-lte-in-32gb/cell-c-south-africa

If anyone has a Note 4 (SD625) on Cell C that can confirm that it is actually working I will remove it. (Rather safe than sorry)

I am on Note 4X and checked all 3 in person on my phone and they work.

I have come to realize that there is a problem with a phone battery that last so long, you forget to charge the damn thing.
