The Official Xiaomi Thread

I don't quite get the xiaomi love...
This should be an interesting theory to test between stock rom and custom rom, I think the hardware is very capable...
My warranty is almost over then I can try out custom roms and see if the results are any different. Any other custom rom users experience anything different or better?

1. Sound cutting out during voice calls.
2. Dual sim issues.
3. Focus breathing recording videos where it can't keep continues focus and it constantly pulses in and out to focus. This also affects focus speed for normal photos at times.
4. Noisy camera especially in low light situations

I don't really use the camera much, but when I have used it, I can't say I experienced anything like #3 and #4. I don't have another SIM, so I can't comment on the dual sim capabilities. My only gripe is if you want an SD card, say goodbye to one of the sim slots (on my phone anyway). I have never experienced #1.

I'm using Lineage OS. IMO it makes the phone worth it. I couldn't stand MIUI, so much so that I considered buying something else. I hated it with an absolute passion. And there was no chance that I was going to wait for the warranty to be over before going custom.

I prefer a clean Android rom, with only the apps I want installed. And Lineage does that to me.

Of course, what makes the experience better for me might be different for you.

I don't quite get the xiaomi love as there seems to be several well known issues reported on the internet by owners and reviewers,

1. Sound cutting out during voice calls.
2. Dual sim issues.
3. Focus breathing recording videos where it can't keep continues focus and it constantly pulses in and out to focus. This also affects focus speed for normal photos at times.
4. Noisy camera especially in low light situations

These seem to be very common issues going back some time and spanning different models and no fix for the issues.

I never experienced any of these points that you are making.

No problems here. the camera might be a bit noisy, but I never use it anyway

You should be good with LineageOS, see one post up from yours. I installed lineage 14.1 on a old samsung s3 mini the other day :D

I also did on an S4 mini - ookdaughter is using it atm.

Think I'll go with it. Need to switch to another phone in the interim while it's "upgraded" etc.

The only issue I have with my Redmi 4A is that wifi hotspot stops working after a minute or so. Other devices are still connected, but nothing works. Meh.

Cool, good to hear.

Where did you get your Lineage ROM from, if I may ask?

I've used them a few times - their service is better than gearbest when things go wrong. Gearbest are horrid in comparison.

thanks,
which shipping method did you use and how long did it actually take ?
can i assume you did the paypal payment ?

I've used various shipping for different items. Most of the time the registered shipping. Arrives in about three months.

I always use Paypal is its available - gives me two channels if they items don't arrive. First Paypal - then my bank.

That is for the Redmi 4 Note, not Redmi 4A...

PS look at that link you posted, think there are two things not working with the lineage rom and in the comments some people mention phone running hot and battery drain issues as well.
