Depending on your phone SoC it may not be able to wake the phone from a sleep state with 'Ok Google'. The Redmi Note 3 for example could not do that.

The lack of a headphone jack is such a deal-breaker for me as much as I love the look of the Mix. I wouldn't say I'm an audiophile by any means but I've invested heavily in headphones over the years. I cannot bear to lose the use of my Sennheisers + Spotify...

A headphone dongle is just another thing to carry around.

I have a usbc adapter stuck onto my earphones permanently and I forget its even there, came with my mi6. Its too tiny to complain about having to carry it around.

Don't think I've ever seen people complain more about a missing feature than the missing headphone jack and usually the reason given is that they now can't use their nice expensive headphones?

I get the slight annoyance but not the over exaggeration.

We're heading towards phones without any visible external ports. Improved water resistance and durability etc.

Running Aero 8.1 Lineage on my Mi Max, does not work for me either.

Edit: Also using fingerprint, screen does not switch on when saying "hey google" "ok google"

Yip, landed 2x Mi A1's for R3k each all in. MIA were selling them for R5k each last year. I'm all for capitalism, but saving R2k just felt better.

If its locked with the screen off it does NOT respond.

If its locked with the screen on, ie pushing vol button when locked with screen off, then it vibrates and asks for the pin, entering the pin/applying fingerprint then shows the assistant waiting listening for a command.

JUST tested it again after seeing a message for a split second. if i wake the screen while the phone is still locked and say hey google with a funny voice, it says it couldn't recognize my voice. if i do it again with the phone already unlocked it responds.

that tells me it recognizes my voice but can't unlock the phone still, since it rejects the voice pattern only if its still locked.

I just tried this on my meizu, there are quite a few steps involved via settings in different places to get this to work.

Google voice typing must be enabled, under that voicematch should have say ok google anytime & unlock with voice match ticked. retrain your voice and reboot phone.

After that mine still did not work, I then noticed my phone uses a proprietary security keyboard for passwd protection which I disabled, after another reboot it now works fine. Dunno if xiaomi miui has something similar.

As shiverz mention your phone hardware might also not support this feature.

Anyone ordered from MIA Africa SA's website, did everything go smoothly with ordering and delivery?

This phone has also caught my attention. Is there a date yet when it can be ordered and shipped to SA?

Edit. I see it's available on geekbuying.

What can I expect in terms of shipping when buying from them?

My friend ordered a Mi box, free delivery and it took 2 days until he had it.
