My "ok Google" voice command is suddenly not working anymore after the update. Anyone experiencing this on their MI6?
 
I couldn't get the new MIUI installed on my dad's Redmi Note 4X this past weekend. I tried with the file in the downloaded_rom folder, through the updater app but it refuses to recognise it and kept giving errors that the file is allegedly a beta ROM and that it can't verify, blah blah blah.

Did a factory reset and not even that helped. So he is stuck on the previous version still. I even tried downloading via Vodacom, MTN and Telkom networks - no change. So weird
 
Hi Guys, I have a question/problem with my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

About 2 weeks ago I bought a Redmi Note 4 from Takealot. I have a vodacom sim card that I use for calling (sim slot 1), and an Afrihost sim card for data (slot 2). I updated all the apps and the MIUI software to the latest versions.

Now the problem... The phone kept on restarting randomly, whether I was using it or not, sometimes every few minutes. I tried disabling the mobile connection, wifi connection, certain sim slots, nothing worked.

I did notice that it happens more if I am in an area with bad signal, either when the phone lost signal, or maybe when it connects to a different tower. But since it just could not get it to work correctly, I got a replacement Note 4 thinking that I had a dud phone.

Now, even on the replacement phone that I got yesterday, the random reboot problem is happening. I have since set the preferred network on the Afrihost sim to 3G this morning, and since then have not had a restart. I have also asked them to enable LTE on the sim card since the FAQ section on their website says that LTE is not enabled by default.

Does anyone else here use a vodacom and afrihost sim card combination in their phone and experience the same issues? Or does anyone know of a fix for this as I have pretty much tried possible solution mentioned on the internet.

The version details are as follows:
Android version: 7.0 NRD90M
MIUI version: 9.2.1.0 (NCFMIEK)

Isn't the Redmi 5A the replacement for the Redmi 4A. I see you can also get the Redmi 4X for slightly more which is a much better specced model https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_719195.html?wid=91

Works on mine but phone has to be unlocked first which I prefer but some might not.

wouldnt but from the local xiaomi guys. always offering old stock and silly prices. enough people just buy it direct. Anyways whats the next big phone on horizon? Mi 7?

Email them, they respond very quickly. I ordered a phone from them recently on a Friday around 11:30am and received it the
following Monday at 9am. I did request not to ship over the weekend as I was not at work.
 
Thanks. I order a gps watch and bluetooth earphones on Friday and didn't get any sort of tracking number and order status is "processing". I suppose I should wait a while before panicking since I'm in an outlying area.

Same thing happened to me, the "processing" status should change to "completed" by this afternoon or tomorrow ( the latest). They say you should expect an email but nothing actually come, instead they send an sms.
