The Official Xiaomi Thread

Oh boy are we in for a treat.

The new Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro coming out within next month.

Definite Flagship killer, the popup camera and the zero nodge and the border to border screen fitted with the 855 snapdragon at such a fantastic price. This phone going to sell out quicker than they stock it.

The K20 non-pro is decent lower budget $299 phone but my focus is on that sexy K20 Pro version for roughly $399 starting price.

I have the same issue as xrap also using a mi8 on stock rom.

My data is from sim 2 though, not sure if that make a difference

Don't think so - tried both - the data connection dies as soon as a call comes in. Wifi it works fine.

Yep usually the case specially with such a hot product.

Wait a month or two and you would get it at 15-20% cheaper on gearbest.

I am likely to just throw money at it cause even at the inflated price it is still cheaper and better product for what I want out of a smartphone. I would literally pay extra $100 just to have a full edge to edge without a pinhole/selfie camera always visible and thats why this phone is so appealing to me and worth even the inflated price.

I can definitely wait. :)

Poco F1 price might also drop quite significantly, and that aint a bad buy at all

I might sit out just for a few weeks to see what happens to the price because alternative to the K20 pro is the Asus Zenfone 6 that caught my eye before this K20 pro got announced. Zenfone 6 is roughly $50 cheaper with essentially the same features but I guess i will wait to get a better direct comparison review before dumping money on either phones.

That popup camera is going to be the first thing to give issues.

Yup I am concerned about small pieces of fibres over time getting in there which is why the Zenfone 6 flip open approach is better so I am a bit on the fence at the moment.

Your link for the Asus shows $660 for the 6gb/128gb model? We're expecting like $400-$500 for the equivalent K20 pro.

I am comparing the gearbest k20 pro pricing with the current Asus Zenfone 6 where the same specs the zenfone cost $40 to $50 cheaper.

We have no idea when the k20 pro price will drop to $500 if it sells as well as we expect it to it might not hit discounted pricing for quite some time and the zenfone 6 will also see a price drop by then.

The $500 price point is not something we will ever likely see within its life cycle, it will start at $600+ at best for quite some time for the k20 pro, the k20 however is likely to go in the $299-$399 range but it has far inferior hardware not interested in that.

If you look on gearbest the K20 pro 6GB/128GB on pre order start at $695 so once they clear preorders and sell from stock the price is likely to range in $750-$799 range. Preorders usually get a decent discount.

Damn, didn't realize they already have the K20 pro for preorder.

I dont know hey

I would imagine that the pre-orders are being charged a premium and if anything the price will only go down instead of up.

That said, we already heard that the K20 will be sold as the Mi9 T in Russia and Poland.

So its possible that Xiaomi will announce global versions under different brands. Mi 9 T in europe, Poco F2 in india, Maybe even the Mi A3 in other countries.

Lets sit tight for now and wait for a Global announcement

My pre-order experience with my Mi Max 3: Pre-order sales started at $300. I bought. Before my Mi Max 3 even shipped, normal sales were at the $250-$260 mark which pee'ed me off big time. School fees = be patient.

Regarding the pop up camera - I noticed there is an ejector hole to manually pop it out/up in case it fails. Not ideal. I could live with a phone sans front camera as I don;t selfie and never video call so this is not an issue for me except for resale value if the pop up fails.
