Anyone run a Xiaomi for 3yrs? Considering I can't seem to find a suitable mid range replacement for my Mi 9T, I'm wondering if it'll last me another 9 months or so....

My Max 3 is now 3 years and 1 month old. Still working fine. Nothing has fallen off

Battery is not quite as good as initially. It now "only" gives 10 hours of screen-on time when charged every second day.

Got my redmi note 8 for 2 years. Battery lasts a day or less. Actually looking to replace the battery but can't find any place that sells the original.

I'm coming up on two years, the longest I've had any Xiaomi.

Battery has taken a dip but it still gets me through a day with no issues.

I feel like the Redmi range is a bit stagnant at the moment, and there's nothing tempting me away from my Redmi Note 8. I might wait another year and see what happens.

I did order a Redmi 9A yesterday (needed an entry level phone for work) but it's not going to be my daily so 32GB/2GB is good enough.

The only cheaper phones had mediocre battery life or only 1GB of RAM or other compromises that wasn't worth the R100 or R200 saving.

I used a Mi 5 S from Jan 2017 to Jan 2021...it was fine though I'm not a power user. For the last 2 years of that, it was on a custom ROM which I'll be doing to this Redmi 9T once Lineage adds support.

Had my Note 4 since it was released in 2017; still going strong as my second phone and battery still seems fine... not used a lot, but WiFi on 24/7, make calls, use WhatsApp, etc.

How is the performance of it? My dad gave me back the Note 8 I gave him to use. Saw all the updates updated it and now it feels slow.

Maybe I'm just spoiled with my Poco x3 gt.

I'm running Pixel Experience on my RN8 and lately it also feels like a bit of a dog. It's fine when no apps are loaded, but I think just the sheer volume of apps and their requirements are enough to bog down the older phones much quicker.

If I think what is running on my phone at any given time:

FNB Banking App
WhatsApp
Telegram
Gboard
The usual always-on Google Play services (Dialer/Messages/Gmail/Calendar/Clock)
Accubattery
Outlook
Teams
Steam (for 2FA)
Samsung Health/Galaxy Watch App

I can see why phones are needing more and more processing power to keep up. And that's not taking into consideration when I open Gumtree or Reddit or Brave or Takealot to actually do stuff - the list above is just the idle processes that we tend to run on the average phone.

Most defnitely spoiled yes. Antutu's 170000 vs 640000 give or take a few. That is quite a difference. But you knew this.

A week before android 12 dropped I started using the roms that popped up for the RN8 and the UI sometimes stutters, I have jumped from PE to Evolution X since I didnt like the changes PE has in a12. The phone has been bearable but still stutters in some instances, such as scrolling my twitter timeline, sometimes.

Many say its the ROMs but the phone as with most is slowly starting to show it's age.

Picked up a Redmi 9A as a phone to offload all my work stuff on. It's amazing what value one can get for R1600.

It's a tad larger than my Note 8, with a larger battery and of course inferior in other ways but, with that being said, it's still pretty decent for the price of dinner for two at a fancy restaurant.

Seems like they want to promote the Note range more than just the Redmi's.

Redmi 10 launching soon with fingerprint scanner but same chip

Coming from a Galaxy Note 10 Plus, which Xiaomi would you suggest? I'm not willing to spend R700+ per month on a contract anymore just to get a top of the range phone.
Is the phone still working? If it is it's a ****ing beast of a phone. Keep it rather and go prepaid. Nothing currently that can touch it.

Still in "showroom" condition. Not a single mark or scratch. Screen is also mint condition. Battery still last just over a day but I charge it every night.

I've had it for 2 years and 6 months now. Only upgrading in August 2022. (I'm on a 3 year contract).

So it's just because I'm tired of the same phone but otherwise, it's a great phone.

Wait for the Note 12 Pro and import one. Skip the Note 11 range as the Global versions are a step backwards from last year's Note 10 Pro. Note 11 Pro China Rom device is excellent, if you're willing to spend some time tinkering in settings to undo Xiaomi's aggressive battery optimisation.

But why would you want to upgrade? Get a dual sim phone, pre paid voice in one sim, the best data deal for your requirements from any provider in the other sim. Should be much cheaper than any contract.

I have joined the tribe. I bought a Poco M3 from Takealot and am happy so far. The value for money is incredible. I was a happy Huawei user for 6 years, but I needed something with Google services.

Is there an Xiaomi/Redmi rep here?
I have the note 10 pro I mentioned earlier in this thread but it has gotten progressively worse the camera randomly stops working and wont take pictures. It just shows a black screen.
I found this online https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/redmi-note-10-pro-new-update-is-causing-the-camera-app-to-crash/
I have tried calling MIA for a response but no answer.
I bought the phone from takealot and looks like I will have to send it back. I am sure this will take 2-3 weeks.
