I bought 2 Xiaomi phones with global rom from Amazon US. Both work perfectly here. LTE, 5G, no problems. What doesn't work in SA if I buy a phone with a Chinese rom? How are banking apps, Android Auto, google pay, etc? Would the global rom work for all of these?
5 months after I got an F7 Ultra, FML...
From where and how much.Sick! Thanks for the heads up, I just ordered mine.
From where and how much.
They're €699 here...the Ultra that is.
You should have bought a second hand iPad 4...For multimedia and light gaming they are really good, but suffer from usual Xiaomi mentality of low updates so the Apple fanbois will hiss.

I don't think Xiaomi releases their flagship phones direct to SA, They've pretty much only ever been available through importers. The T series phones are the only main brand phones that seem to be locally available.I am waiting for the Xiaomi 17, but running out of patience now. The OPPO X9 is VERY tempting ( not a Xiaomi product, I know, sorry)
The Redmi Note 15 is available here for very cheap, does not have eSim and has quite a small battery.
The Poco M8 also has no eSim. Deal breaker for me.
Mat and the team have flown over to Dubai to race a Ferrari SF90 XX against a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra! The question is, does this all-new Ferrari have what it takes to beat an all-electric Chinese supercar?
Let’s take a closer look at the stats.
Starting with the Xiaomi, it’s powered by three electric motors, and these combine to produce 1,548hp and 1,770Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels, and the car weighs in at a hefty 2,360kg. However, it’s super cheap, with the cost of the car in China equating to just £56,000!
As for the Ferrari, well it’s a whole lot more expensive - costing £670,000! It’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that creates 797hp and 804Nm. However, just like the Xiaomi, it comes with three electric motors, with the power from the engine and motors combining to produce 1,030hp! It’s also a whole lot lighter than the Xiaomi, tipping the scales at 1,660kg.
So does the much-lighter Ferrari stand a chance? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!
