The Orange battle

Orangeworks beats European cellular network giant in battle for trademark

Orange (the telecoms company) have been known to write legal letters to every man and his dog that has any reference to the word 'Orange' (or even the colour) in their company identity. Including a number in South Africa where they do not have an official footprint.

Copyright lawyers justfying their retainers......

This is crazy, but not the first case of its kind. I know OrangeInk was also on their list, and they eventually settled by OrangeInk changing their color but keeping their name.

I heard that Apple is also threatening legal action against anyone with a brand name starting with 'i'. iKidyounot!

One thing I've noticed, is that the Surrender Monkeys only pick on companies smaller than them. The ****ing huge billboard on the N1 warning of the dangers of orange doesn't seem to interest them, because they know that Telkom has the resources and stubbornness to fight them to the end.

Lawyers are scum, and IP lawyers are the scum that feeds on scum. IP law is in desperate need of a rethink (all IP: copyrights, trademarks, brands, the whole lot) and pirates are one of the biggest groups pushing for this. ARRRRG.

Well done Orangeworks.

+1

Few people in SA have even heard of the Orange cellphone operator. Who do they think they are ?

Orange will never win my favour if they carry on like this.

Reminds me of Cyber Orange shop, that was renamed to Cyber Range, due to some company with name containing word "orange", sued them.
