Scoop! Pagani to be sold in South Africa…
Here’s a scoop for supercar fans – CAR magazine has learned that the Daytona Group has been appointed as the official South African importer and distributor for the ultra-exclusive Pagani marque.
Founded in 1992 by Argentinian Horacio Pagani, the company is based in San Cesario sul Penaro outside of Modena, Italy and produces limited-run models – first the Zonda and now the Huayra. Only 100 Huayra coupés were made (and sold) but Pagani recently launched a roadster version.
The Daytona Group will receive a limited allocation of roadsters, with the first cars arriving on local shores in early 2018.
“It’s a real honour for us to be given the opportunity to work with Pagani,” said Justin Divaris, Daytona Group’s CEO.
“With Pagani’s limited production run, demand has always exceeded supply and there’s only a very select group of automotive dealers that Pagani will work with. Our knowledge of the local market and and success we’ve had in representing Rolls-Royce, McLaren and Aston Martin in South Africa has cemented our reputation.”
The Huayra roadster employs a Mercedes-AMG M158 engine, with the twin-turbo 6,0-litre V12 tuned to deliver a whopping 562 kW and more than 1 000 N.m.

R18.7 million Pagani launched in South Africa
Ultra-exclusive Italian sports car brand Pagani has become available in South Africa with the appointment of Daytona as the official importer.
The Johannesburg-based dealer adds the Italian marque to its existing family of high-end brands which include McLaren, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce and Brabus.
South Africa will receive its first Pagani Huayra Roadster next year which already has a proud new owner. In fact, the allocation given to Daytona by Pagani for the Huayra for the next two years has been sold.
The Huayra coupe, named after the Incan god of wind, is the successor to the Zonda and made its world debut in 2011, followed by the Roadster version which was unveiled at this year's Geneva motor show in March. It's powered by a mid-mounted Mercedes-AMG V12 6-litre twin turbo with outputs of 562kW and 1000Nm.
A lightweight body made of carbon fibre and titanium gives the two-seater a none-too-shabby power to weight ratio, allowing it to blitz the 0-100km/h sprint in around 2.7 seconds and haul ass to a 370km/h top speed - making it one of the world's fastest cars.
The rear-wheel drive car incorporates active aerodynamics, and is capable of changing the height of the front from the ground and independently operating flaps placed at the rear and front of the car. The rear flaps also act as an airbrake under hard braking.
Pagani builds only around 40 Huayra roadsters each year, priced at £1 000 000 apiece - that's R18.7-million without import duties, and Daytona won't tell us what local versions are selling for. Price is on application only.
Horacio Pagani, who formerly worked at Lamborghini, began designing his own car in the late 1980s and the Zonda C12 was the first fruit of his labours, debuting at the 1999 Geneva motor show.
Says Justin Divaris, Ceo of Daytona: “I had the opportunity to visit the headquarters in San Cesario Sul Panaro and I was impressed by the level of quality and the performance of the vehicles, as well as the incredible skills of the Pagani artisans."

Pagani announces restoration service
Owners of older Paganis can now get the company to make them as good as new
Pagani is to offer a restoration service from its factory, the brand has announced on its social media.
Company boss Horacio Pagani said the brand aims to give owners “the emotion to be thrilled as the first time”, suggesting that cars will be fully restored to showroom standard, rather than simply spruced up aesthetically.
Pagani accompanied the announcement with an image of a Zonda S in the workshop, confirming that even the earliest Paganis can be restored, rather than the service being offered purely to current or the most recent models.
The brand has not disclosed the price of each restoration, but with the Huayra starting from £666,000, it’s likely to be well into six figures for each restoration, depending on the car.
Pagani’s full announcement reads: “To bring back the light and the original splendour of these masterpieces, is a pleasure as well as a great responsibility. Our customers rely on us, because we are the only ones in the world capable of rebuilding and restoring Paganis as they came out of our atelier [workshop]. We want to give our customers the emotion to be thrilled as the first time.”
A final version of the Zonda, the Zonda HP Barchetta, was announced recently following a spate of special editions that have stretched out the car’s production run, which started in 1999. Early Zondas are likely to be the models most commonly restored by the factory.

Pagani recalls R16-million Huayra Coupe, Roadsters to fix 'engine bug'
Italy - Pagani has issued a safety recall due to a "bug in the battery management software" of its Huayra Coupe and Roadster models.
Pagani, is an Italian automaker of supercars, some of its most well-known models are the Zonda and aformentioned Huayra roadster and coupe.
The automaker says: "There is the possibility that, due to a bug in the battery management software, the 12Vcc battery fails to provide enough power to the car.
"There is the possibility that the engine cannot be started or that the engine stops when it is in the idle.
"Pagani does not know of any cases of personal injury or death arising from the defect. Nevertheless, to minimize the risk of a seriousincident, Pagani is taking the recall action."

For those of you who don’t know, Daytona are the official importers of Pagani cars in South Africa (and Africa) and the first customer Pagani will be arriving in South Africa some time this year (hopefully).
The first demo Pagani Huayra will be in SA next month according to Daytona but the shots and video you see here will be the spec of the first customer owned Pagani Huayra Roadster in South Africa.
It is an absolute masterpiece if you ask me and cannot wait to see some shots of this thing down in Cape Town on the magnificent scenic roads.

The idea of leasing a vehicle allows a low monthly payment for access to a high-end model and although this model in question is not your regular high-end model, the monthly payment is by no means low.
A new lease deal can put you behind the wheel of the Pagani Huayra Roadster for just $25,339 (approximately R310,000) a month for 60 months – plus a $700,000 (R8.5 million) down payment.
Putnam Leasing*, the firm offering this deal, claims that it’s the most expensive new vehicle lease ever.
Once you hit the end of the deal, you have four options. Either, pay the residual value and own your vehicle outright, sell the car, pay the residual value and any profit is yours to keep, trade the car to a dealer and let them pay the residual amount or begin a new lease that finances the residual value of the car.
It all sounds very flexible if you ask us, however, the values are of course market dependent so you are taking a huge risk that the market demand for these cars either increases or remains the same. A quick scroll through the company’ website reveals that they are happy to consider similar deals on almost any car.
