The Part Time Money Making Thread

Anything with "I promise its not a pyramid scheme" = bad news.

In 2007, following investigations that lasted more than a year, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in UK issued petitions against Amway as well as two IBO organizations Britt World Wide and Network 21, and initiated civil court proceedings. According to Amway, DTI's objections include misrepresentation of the financial rewards expected from the Amway business, excessive promotion of BSMs (Business Support Materials like books, tapes, CDs, meetings, websites) and Amway's failure to prevent these abuses.

Anything with "I promise its not a pyramid scheme" = bad news.

A United Kingdom judge has dismissed government claims against Amway operations there, saying major reforms last year fixed company faults that favored selling training materials over products and misrepresented earnings.

The ruling clears Amway UK, a part of Ada-based Alticor Inc., of the threat of expulsion from one of Amway's oldest international markets.

In a letter to employees around the world, Alticor President Doug DeVos and Chairman Steve Van Andel said the ruling was not a "pop-the-champagne victory."

"This is a reminder that the marketplace and regulators hold us to the highest standards. We have an obligation to meet those standards - and we intend to do so," they wrote.

The company has more than 100 employees in the UK and 10,000 distributors.

The judge in the case expressed his belief Amway allowed "misrepresentations" of its business by independent sellers in years past and failed to act decisively against the misrepresentations.

The reformed Amway business model, he wrote, is "fully formulated, comprehensive, open and transparent and capable of effective and ongoing implementation without supervision."

Spokesman Rob Zeiger said the ruling was a "solid validation" of reforms implemented by the company in the United States and abroad.

I do CAD drawings on the side.
Anyone here in the engineering field need all their old paper drawing converted to digital? (might as well punt it here :D )

Are you some kind of a draughtsman? I'm a structural draughtsman and I like your idea of making money on the side. I also use AutoCAD 2008 at work but I don't know if I'll be able to digitise old paper drawings, my employers wouldn't allow it.

Anyway, do many people approach you to digitise their old paper drawings?

...

If this is true, then good for them and I hope that they really are reforming. However, I stand by the adage that "a leopard doesn't change its spots". Amway achieved its success through blatant exploitation of the uninformed masses. Sorry, but I do not believe that such horrible, entrenched practises would truly be replaced by completely benevolent ones.

Again, I apologise for going off on a tangent to the original thread, which is worth discussing.

Flarkit, no need to apologize:) That is your opinion, others might feel different. I also feel that this thread is more than just bitting at each other - but then again thats part of this thread and we should respect each other opinions as we do:):):):):)

I make GPS maps on the side. See sig below. Started as a hobby, now sell than. Earn enough to pay those annoying bills a month and I enjoy learning new skills an d about new areas of the world.

Just have to find a little nich and go for it. :)

i've seen these things on the net quite often where they "pay" you to complete surveys.
how its supposed to work is you pay them X amount to "subscribe" and then they register you etc and send you surveys which you complete and send back to them. they then send these surveys to the companies concerned and the companies pay you.

anyone else ever seen/heard of these things? i mean, it seems like a pretty easy way to make money but it seems quite sketchy

At the moment I am just doing general-arrangement drawings for the company that I work for. We are too busy to get it all done during office hours, so I do it at home for a fee. I haven't had any work for outside company/individuals, but wouldn't mind getting in some work for when I finish the current contracts I am working on.

Codemaster, know of anyone who might be in need of 3D fly through animation? I do that on the side and I'm willing to pay commission ;) usually do properties (like developments, take the CAD drawings and then render them put in elements like trees and crap with furniture) best I've ever seen as far as I know ;)

i can make single colour vinyl stickers. :D
which means you can make two colour vinyls also, if you had more than one colour. it's quite easy to layer the vinyl.
