9600k is where I’d spend my money, and then get a Z390 AsRock Pro4 or Gigabyte UD.

Gaming benchmarks on the intel were better, and then also check the power consumption on the AMD cards as the bigger ones are very thirsty.

Either option is good though.

Gigabyte is also good too. I've had my 750w Gigabyte Odin for 8 years and I've abused my PC by gaming a LOT, so far no issues with it. Plus I watch a lot of TV series as well. I'm a technician myself so Gigabyte isn't a bad deal if you want to save a few bucks.

The great cleaning of 2019 is underway. My 3 year old machine is getting a rebuild and it needed it...look how much grime!

I also got a chance to try out the Cooler Master Nepton 280L AIO a friend of mine wasn't using. He said it was noisy as hell - 100% accurate. Without a very conservative custom fan curve, these Jetflo fans they come with are very, very loud. Haven't finished yet...might put the Phanteks back in. The cooling performance is about the same (the AIO might be better if I could tolerate the fan noise at higher RPM).

That actually looks pretty clean compared to mine.

The other day I thought I would strip and clean mine, took the GPU out, stripped it completely, cleaned every part of it, applied fresh thermal paste and reassembled. Took me about an hour just for the GPu, by that time I was sneezing nonstop, eyes were bloodshot and face puffed up from the dust. That's where I left it...

Even got a aio cooler for the cpu that needs to go in, sigh.

Cool build, what was the cost ?
 
The Evetech 2700x bundle with the Asus Strix board is about 2 grand cheaper...I still wouldn't get it because Evetech. With pricing like that, I'm beginning to suspect grey imports or something which would explain why their after-sales service is dodgy.

If I had to buy something now, it would be stop-gap...I'd get a decent B450 board and an el cheapo (even second-hand) first gen Ryzen and then wait till Zen 2 launches in June. Depending on Zen 2 pricing, either get a Ryzen 2 new or a second-hand 2700x from someone upgrading.

In total I spent 28 600k

The gpu I got second hand for R5600
And 7k of that was for a monitor.

The CPU, Mobo, Ram, Case and Cooler I listed came to R16k

I'm new to this, don't laugh at me. I'm in the process of building a PC, I don't want to say a gaming PC but it's something like that. It looks kind of expensive honestly, just the basics. At a quick glance you have a h310 motherboard & k series processor, k means it's unlocked and you can overclock it but the MB does not support overclocking. secondly check if the MB supports the cpu and whether it can really handle it power wise.
 
Just replaced my 5800K+5770 (long story..) for around R9500 for nice a 2400G build. Decided in the to splurge a little on the board, storage and memory

new:
2400G OC 3.9Ghz core 1.325v , 1525mhz igp 1.225v (2200g can do similar speed with comaparable performance, but less guarantee and more volts)
Cooler Master H411LR (probably not that much better than stock, but I need the rear flow in my tight case)
MSI B450M Mortar (the real star here)
G.Skill Ripjaws F4-3200C16D-16GVGB (not QVL, but XMP2 stable.. phew..)
Mushkin Pilot 500GB NVME (for R1650, it was hard to pass up)
Salvage:
1TB HDD (SG, I think)
Lian Li PC-A04B with 2x120mm in, 120+80mm out. (small, unassuming, and quiet)
Corsair CX 430W (still has legs)

I probably could've gone with a GPU build, but I didn't see any good value below RX570, and I don't put 150W extra on my PSU. Nonetheless, I have a good upgrade path down the line, and I can play Skyrim @1080p (better than the 5770 did!), record/stream Celeste runs, and do work when needed.
 
Hoping someone can help me here also. I posted a thread on Carb looking for PC packaging that many people may just throw away after building. I require it for shipping. Will collect in the Cape Town area. (Northern Suburbs and Paarl). I tried PC shops and all they could help me with was a PSU box.

See part list below: (Does not have to be the original box, just giving my components so that suitable sizes may be determined)

Case: Bitfenix Comrade
Motherboard: Full ATX Asus Z97k
CPU: i5 LGA1150 (Also not sure if I should just keep the CPU attached to MB)
CPU cooler: cooler master, really not sure model number
Ram: GSKILL DDR3 (I plan to at least get the ram packaging and then keep this in the screen box for eg.)

Keyboard, mouse

When I checked on PCpartpicker it says that it's supported, but anyway I got some advice that I should try the Z370 motherboard. Thanks for the advice.
 
Possibly the wrong thread, but just looking for advice. Given the current loadshedding situation, I am looking for a UPS that can keep my PC powered for the 2.5-3 hours that the power is off.
My PC setup:

Nothing personal, but how long is a piece of string?

What do you plan on doing with your PC?
What else are you going to run form the "ups"?
What is your budget?
How much power does your PC use?
Will your PC use this amount of power constantly?
How much power does your monitors use?
Have you considered an alternative solution like a generator?
Have you considered getting a UPS to only keep your PC on until your alternative source of power comes on?
