The PC Build Thread

Hi Guys

Hoping I could get an opinion on this thread, I need to sell my PC, we are moving and I don't really want to take it through the moving process.

Any idea what I could get for it and the best place to sell it?

Would it be better to sell piece by piece or as a complete PC?

Specs below:

All products still under warranty and I have the original boxes.

Phanteks Eclipse P400A White
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
Mushkin Helix 500Gb M.2 Nvme
Teamgroup 512Gb 2.5" SSD
WD 1TB SATA HDD
Palit GeForce RTX 3070 GamingPro OC
Gskill 3200 16Gb RGB
Deepcool Gammaxx CPU Cooler ( have the original AMD cooler as well)
Super Flower SF-650 Gold Modular PSU

You should be able to get ~R16k+ just for the gpu.

Check the used prices on carbonite for components, https://carbonite.co.za/index.php

Just keep in mind that you won't be able to buy a gpu any time soon again as there are none or extremely expensive, other components are also more expensive.

11400F
2x8GB ADATA D50 3200MHz
And whatever looks like the best budget B560 board

Can anyone think of something better or why not to get this?

All depends on how it compares price & performance wise to a 3600/mb/ram bundle.

The 11400F was ~R700 less than any 3600s I saw in stock, I'd buy the same RAM and the MBs would be pretty much in the same ballpark for both.

I'd get whatever is cheapest. Just keep in mind the intel socket is probably eol but then again will am4 get any new cpus in future...

just placed an order for my new "workstation"

coming from an i7-6820HQ notebook, this thing should be a hoot

So my box of goodies arrived from wootware today.

the cable management that you can do these days is insane

some really strange behavior though.
the mb/bios only picks up 1 stick of memory.
no matter the combo - A1/B1, A2/B2 - it will only ever pick up A1 or A2, 16Gb 2666mhz
i don’t think there is anything wrong with either of the dimms, as I can swop them round with the same results.

will try update the bios tomorrow

Exactly and in the future when I want to upgrade I can get an i7 or i9 and be fine again.

This is to upgrade from a 4770 and DDR3 1600MHz.

The embargo ends today, it's not going to be anything amazing compared to the 10th gen, I'd say maybe about 10% faster but it does give you entry to faster RAM and PCIe 4.0.

The embargo ends at 15:00.

Not to mention a max OC of 7GHz if you've got the cojones.

Still not getting one though.

The memory timings on that kit are slower than average so it's hopefully cheap-ish. I think they're 16-20-20-40 or 42 compared to the standard 16-18-18-38.

That only really matters if you're likely to tinker with them - they're unlikely to go much farther with decent timings.

I predict faster in most, slower in some, especially if they compare with the same speed memory. (compared to 10th gen)

Good point, didn't really look at that.

The D60 kit's timings are 16-18-18-36, I'll get that.

Found some reviews here and there and it looks like the 11400 is faster than last year's 10600 while being ~R1500 cheaper.

Wait a few hours for the big reputable reviewers, some of those youtube reviews are dodgy as hell.

Been out of the loop with Intel since Ryzen first launched and destroyed them, but how do their chips compare now to, say, the 3600 and 5600's?

Wait for the reviews from the big YouTubers to come in.. comparisons will be there for sure..
