Hey guys, would it be a good idea to buy factory repaired graphics cards from Rockin IT?

If it is a 3060ti and up, significantly cheaper than current going rates, perhaps as cheap as RRP and comes with a warranty, then maybe, just maybe it would be worth it..

Agreed if there is a warranty yes I would

^ 3 month warranty isn't worth it imo.

Finally my PC is on track, couple weeks and it'll be delivered

Where else could I buy factory refurbished graphics cards? Cause I've run out of options of buying completely new cards (cause everything is either out of stock or ****ing R20000) and I'm not sure of going for secondhand cards.

Yeah I would want at least a year but with the current market conditions and a probable silicone shortage for the next 12 months its not a bad option. People are paying R 10k for a 1660 super, if you keep looking at carbonite might be able to get a 3060 for R 12k and saw a 3070ti for around R 18k

I ordered an upgrade for my computer.

Going from:
Ryzen R5 3600
16GB of DDR4 3200 CL14
Nvidia 1070 8GB

To:
Ryzen R5 5600X
32GB of DDR4 3600 CL16 (4 x 8)
AMD 6700 XT

Should be a little over twice as fast.

I have wanted to upgrade for a while. Right now, things are super fooking expensive. But I decided to bite the bullet. I think the silicon shortage will be with us for a while, for a few years. In the mean time, I get a major performance upgrade. Since I game at 4K (or try to), the age of my video card was a problem.

Now games should run in 4K with few problems. I mean, maybe high detail rather than ultra, but whatever.

Also, my new employer gave me a new monitor. I now have an LG 27 inch 4K IPS monitor with Freesync. So that is cool. I've never used Freesync, so I'll try it out.

I currently play games on my TV, which is a 49 inch 4K TV. I've got so used to playing PC games on a TV. So I might just leave it as that, although Freesync sounds nice.

I know the feelings you're sure to be having. I'm going from an 8 ish year old PC with a 1050 to a £3000 beast ... might legit be overwhelmed and pee a little :D

Mine isn't quite as big an upgrade as that! But yeah, it is a big upgrade.

At the moment, I guess I'm feeling excited, but I'm also feeling doubt as to whether I have done the right thing. It is so freaking expensive, and to be honest, unnecessary right now.

I like indulging in my hobbies, but man it is a lot of money!

Tell me about it on the cost guilt front  Luckily my justification lessens it considerably and I know its a needed and necessary investment

In my case it is neither needed nor necessary! But, it is affordable. What I mean is that, I looked at my remaining expenses for the year, and realised I could afford this one - just!

This is with still contributing to my investments, paying for holidays, and paying for an engagement ring this year (yes!). So, I can do all of that, and buy this graphics card, without needing to live on credit. All of it is paid for cash. So I thought, well okay.

I've budgeted for the big ticket items this year, and this is another big ticket item, but something that I can afford without piling up any debt at all.

I have just completed the upgrade and it... worked. I'm amazed. I've just played a few minutes of a game, to make sure that it works. Normally these things are so damn painful to do!

Only two problems - one, this graphics card is huge! So much so that I had to take my SSD caddy out and make another plan. Two, my front USB ports stopped working. No idea why. I might have bumped the connectors.

Congrats on the upgrade. Let us know what FSR means to your games (if supported) when that becomes a thing. At TV-viewing distance I imagine you could get away with running a game at 1080p upscaled to 4k though that would probably only be necessary for >60hz.

The prices on Wootware are moving in the right direction, at least. A week ago a 6700 XT was 18 grand...now it's 14,5k with the 5600X bundle (the 5600X on its own is also as low as I've seen it before).

It's a step in the right direction but still a long way from where the ROI used to be.

When it comes out, I'll try it. The problem is that it requires game specific support. Even if AMD is going to open source it, it probably won't be retrofitted to existing games. But yeah, going forward, it could be cool.

I've finally got my 27 inch screen setup. I'm just using it connected to my work PC at the moment, but HOLY COW. Why didn't I do this sooner? This looks amazing!

At some point I'll drag my PC up here so that I can test out Freesync. Pity my TV doesn't support it.

At least you've got to test your monitor already, I'm jelly! Mines just chilling in its box until the system arrives :/

Hi, I need some advice if it's worth upgrading from Antec A30 to Antec C400?
CPU is struggling under the heat.
