I ordered an upgrade for my computer.
Going from:
Ryzen R5 3600
16GB of DDR4 3200 CL14
Nvidia 1070 8GB
To:
Ryzen R5 5600X
32GB of DDR4 3600 CL16 (4 x 8)
AMD 6700 XT
Should be a little over twice as fast.
I have wanted to upgrade for a while. Right now, things are super fooking expensive. But I decided to bite the bullet. I think the silicon shortage will be with us for a while, for a few years. In the mean time, I get a major performance upgrade. Since I game at 4K (or try to), the age of my video card was a problem.
Now games should run in 4K with few problems. I mean, maybe high detail rather than ultra, but whatever.
Also, my new employer gave me a new monitor. I now have an LG 27 inch 4K IPS monitor with Freesync. So that is cool. I've never used Freesync, so I'll try it out.
I currently play games on my TV, which is a 49 inch 4K TV. I've got so used to playing PC games on a TV. So I might just leave it as that, although Freesync sounds nice.
