Got me a Kingston SSD for my main PC as well, 90GIG though:cry: but for my setup its perfect. Only running windows off that drive and only games on the level of BF4 will be destined for that drive, everything else is dumped on my 2TB.

Running my pc through my TV rather because I wanted an HTPC + gaming setup.

Ok this is what I am going to build for this guy. He is now open to AMD as an option as well.

Is this guy your friend?

With the current system he won't really be playing some intense games like BF, Crysis, and the likes. That A10 CPU is good, but not for gaming without a GPU. Dota will be fine, if he's into that.

A manager where I work, he just wants an office machine.

GPU is pretty essential unless he's just wanting to play free-to-play stuff from Steam because then it's perfect.

An office machine I see. Then a GPU is not needed. I built a PC for my manager 4 months ago, didn't ask him a cent. Just did it for the fun of building :D

Rather get a H81 and i5 4440, would be much better for an office PC.

But, don't you think that Intel can't compete on that price level?

ok updated to this:

CPU: Intel Haswell lga1150 i5-4440 - 1973
MOBO: Gigabyte ga-B85M-HD3 - 869

Now that's a good Office PC. Possible to get a 1TB HDD?

I'm trying to make a profit here :p

One more question though...I have a Windows 8.1 disc that I received from a friend. I've been trying to hint in earlier posts that I did not pay for it, I have installed it on 2 of my machines at home and it is still active, no signs of piracy or anything like that.

Should I install this copy on this new machine? (trying to reduce costs) How much does Windows 8.1 cost though?

OR

if i am going to give this hobby of mine a go, should I buy a couple of discs? I am just scared that I won't be able to get buyers.

I wouldn't install the Win8 unless he does not care about the operating system.
You're not charging him for it are you?
Why not explain the situation to him?

FYI it is a breach of microsoft's license but if he's ok with it then go for it.

I am not selling it to him. I don't think he cares about the OS. He wanted Windows 7 cos he heard that W8 is rubbish but I assured him of the fact that 8.1 is actually good. Otherwise he can just boot straight into the desktop in any case.

Then do the Windows install for him and leave it at that.
As long as he understands the situation I don't see the problem.

to further the question, or answer my other question. If I were to go "big" with this CC license of mine, do you think it would be a good idea to get a windows 8 disc with a lot of licenses to protect myself or...I am just worried man. lol

Personally I wouldn't run a business with anything remotly illegal.
Unless it is once again just for a group of friends and they couldn't be cared about the legality.

As it stands, you can't sell the PC to your manager with your copy of Win 8. You'll put yourself at risk doing so. One day he could decide to go on the Microsoft website and ask questions and MS will investigate. Or, he could give the key to someone else, which puts you at risk even more. And, if it is for office work (thus in a business), it's best to get a separate Windows, to avoid any risk.

Don't get anymore Windows licenses. Only when you need to. Also, you're making a profit selling to your manager, that's not to say other people will be less clued-up on PC components and their prices. I've built loads of PCs for family, friends, colleagues, the lot. Never charged them a cent for it, except for a beer or 2....

I don't see a problem in making a profit off the sale, loads of people do it so why not him?
The windows install however is leaving a door open to possible problems.
Not to say I havn't given my copy of windows to friends but that was different.
