^, H110 would support Skylake (6th gen) and Kaby Lake (7th gen) with a BIOS update. Various Pentium and Celerons too.

Unfortunately, those generations were pre-Ryzen so Intel were still providing 4 core CPUs for top-end prices. Tbh, I'd tell your brother to sell-on that motherboard or get a second-hand CPU to run it with. It's not worth investing 5 grand in.

Yeah it sounds like it. He might need to get a whole new setup.

Check what he wants the machine to do and decide from there. If he's looking for an email + browsing + light office machine, a cheap Celeron might be all he needs for now.

I'm assuming he has all the other bits and pieces and is just wanting a CPU. I wouldn't buy parts to build a Skylake-era PC but from lying around bits + cheap CPU, no reason not to.

Yeah that's what I went for, I paid almost R800 more though, as I only found the special after I'd bought from Wootware :-(

looks nice.. wish I could get into pc gaming again. really miss it

Thanks, I missed it as well, though I finished that on Thursday haven't really had a proper chance to play with it thanks to Load shedding :-(.

Can someone recommend a budget gaming pc?
intel or Amd

I have: Gaming keyboard and mouse.
old school Vga monitor but flat screen though. ( can use vga to hdmi adapter in interim)
I could maybe get a second hand GPU but what should I look for?

im for of an FPS guy or car games. not for open world games.
only GTA actually..

that's horrible :crying:
Yup it is, I booted it up, installed OS and bam no power.
Pretty much my build, though I hit about R15k :-(.
To make it cheaper I'd go with 8gigs RAM maybe a 2400G and one SSD :)
