Good thing I waited a day or two.
Just found bought this:
i7-3770
https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?threads/i7-3770-1155-cpu.250561/

And here's the kicker... after spending hours last night pulling my hair out as to why my memory won't clock higher than 1333 it turns out my stupid ITX board only supports 1600+ speeds on Ivy Bridge CPU's.

I know it won't make a huge difference buy every little counts when you're scraping the bottom of the barrel :)

Nice find.

Will the mb be able to oc the ram to now?

I mean oc to 1866MHz.

Make & model of MB?

Oh that, no unfortunately not. I originally just bought it as a media center PC board, didn't intend to use it as a main system.
B75IA-E33
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B75IA-E33/Specification

It's a B-series chipset so no overlocking awesomeness on this one.
I have an Asus P8P67-Pro board that I can use to overclock the crap out of stuff if I wanted but I don't want to use a massive PC case, I love the Bitfenix Prodigy I have lying around so I'm going to stick to using it.

As the comments say, how will dropping the price if you have no new chips to ship help? And Intel generally don't do price drops.

They're in stock as far as I've seen...and below launch price so there doesn't seem to be that inflation there was at launch.

10-15% off isn't that compelling really. I'm looking forward to December when I'll probably upgrade my 4 year old PC...hopefully the stars align and the Rand is respectable at the time.

Nice and congrades but why did you not wait for the AMD 3 series?

Please let us know if that memory runs at 3200 without any issues? Having a hell of a time to figure out what DDR4 sticks will work without hassles. I am wanting to buy the trident Z ram GTZKW which is not listed but the GPZR is listed which are RGB and I really could not care less for pretty lights.

Because he didn't want to pay more and play now?

That is one perspective but I was not asking you. But good to know you know what other people think?

Price yes is always a factor, and yes the 2600 is going for a great price at the moment, but at the same time we do not know what the release prices would be on release maybe only a few R100's difference. Maybe he knows something nobody else knows. That is why I am asking?

I had to "upgrade" as my previous AM3 motherboard gave up the ghost  So couldn't wait.
