So much better, I also remember coolermaster used to have rubber type gromets you'd pull through to secure the fans. But cannot find those separately to purchase.

I bought a few packs of these many moons ago from Rebeltech:

I looked again now, but I cannot see it on their site. Maybe you could find something like this on AliExpress or the like?

I typed in "Fan Grommet" and it popped up amongst the search results in Google

I checked my old Rebel Tech invoices and it is listed as:

Deepcool Buffer B1, anti-vibration rubber, push pins for all case fans (DC-BB1)

Raru had it listed once upon a time, perhaps you could ask them if they could source it?

So now that we know the pricing for new Ryzen it seems I will be going for the Ryzen 5 3600. I saw on gamernexus channel the only difference between 3600 and 3600x is 200mhz clock speed and he said can just overclock the 3600 to that.

Is it silly going for the 3600 or should I spend the extra R2200 and go for the 3700x? Have purchased the B450 Tomahawk motherboard to use with new Ryzen chip.

What is your typical workload split, gaming vs productivity?

Productivity will usually favour more cores/threads, also depends how long you are intending on keeping your system for. AMD will squeeze another generation of CPUs out of AM4 as they said they will support AM4 through 2020 so you could get away with a 3600 for now, OC it a little and buy 4xxx next year if you don't need the latest and greatest right now.

I have to buy a new CPU as I sold my old PC already waiitng for new Ryzen before I decided wether to go with 2000 or 3000 series.

PC is used during the day for normal work - emails, documents, coding, light photo editing etc and then also for gaming at 1440p.

The more I think about it the more I am keen on going the 3700x but on the other hand if I can save cash that's always a bonus.

Temps are good, though i have yet to push any overclocking on it. I think it's a good deal for an AIO liquid cooler.

Wants and needs...

You sound like a normal office jockey. the 3600 with an OC will do the job, else the 3600x. What gpu you got again?

Haha "office jockey" - quite the opposite actually as PC is used for many different tasks (not all at once) everyday as I work from home.

Have a Strix 1080 Ti. This new PC I'm building am doing custom Waterloop too. Have all the parts ready just waiting for CPU.

The Waterloop is something I have wanted to try for a while and thought now that I'm upgrading is the best time to do it and also for the looks if I'm honest.
 
1080p gaming favours faster CPU's. At 1440p your graphics card becomes more important. The higher the resolution, the lower the load on the CPU and the higher importance placed on a fast graphics card.
 
So if I were to go for 3600 / 3600X is the price difference really worth going for the 3600X over the standard 3600?

As it stands I have credit available so total payable by me would be:

3600 - R2275
3600X - R3075
3700X - R4475

So with that in mind should I still stick with the 3600/3600X or for 3700X - keeping in mind this is running on B450 Tomahawk, Strix 1080 ti all on custom waterloop.

Edit: Also will 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200mhz (it is the GTZR) work fine with either. Currently have 16gb and buying another 16gb kit.

now I"m in the market for a new PC - not an upgrade or whatsoever, one of my hard drives has failed and you would think after 9 years on Sandybridge, it would more sensible to just buy a new PC minus the power supply which is still new.

I see AMD Ryzen has a better deal over Intel with their prices so some advice would be appreciated. My budget isn't looking that great and I prefer a quad-core CPU over anything else. I play games now and then, spend more time watching TV series / movies and then there's IT related work which I"ve been out of for too long (6 years, I think) so I'm not too clued up about AMD's products. Any advice would be really appreciated.

I'm in the UK so lets see what they have at the current rate.
