That's a budget cooler, running on a part that runs pretty warm. The cooler is rated for 100W TDP. That CPU is rated at 95W so you're basically at the thermal limit of what the cooler can handle. However, you have it in a case with only 1 fan.

Best solution is to get a decent CPU cooler, something like the Hyper 212. But definitely add some case ventilation, that will help too.

As an immediate solution you can try undervolt your CPU to get it to run a little cooler. You may lose some performance but at least it will be stable.

EDIT: Could also potentially be a power limit setting in the BIOS. The 10600K is a 125W part. If you have a limit set, it may be hitting that limit and then throttling. Other potential issue is VRM temps.

Use HWINFO to monitor your temps - you want the temps of all the cores, not the CPU collectively. Could be that the average CPU temp is 75 but one of the cores is running hotter and thus throttling.

So:
1) Check BIOS settings for any sort of power/thermal limit.
2) Use HWINFO and monitor VRM and core temperatures when you run the benchmark.

I have an issue with high CPU temps, 88-92C, when running 2 x HyperV VM's. I give 2 cores per VM, putting my overall CPU utilization at around 55-60%. After chatting to my brother, we figured it must be the airflow in my case, so fetch our small industrial fan, brought the temp down to 82-84C. Would not be funny popping a brand new CPU in the first week.....

I have a GAMDIAS case, with no system fans, and leave the case open for now, which is so bad for the dust. This budget case also has an issue that it can not suck air from the front, due to solid casing.

I got the i9-10900F(stock cooler) last week, running on a Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X. Surely I can push a third VM, but would need to make changes...

New case or would mounting system fans be sufficient?
Liquid CPU cooling?

Any recommendations would be appreciated, budget is not unlimited :)

New case with decent airflow would be a good start, but sounds like your mounting is bad or something for it to be getting that hot. You probably also need a better CPU cooler.

Phanteks P400A digital or P500.

Hyper 212 CPU cooler.

Agreed. I had that problem once, it turned out that 1 of the screws holding my cooler had popped open.
For CPU I don't like anything over about 60C for extended periods.

That's a weirdly arbitrary value that is completely dependent on your type of CPU, cooling solution, the ambient temperature and the workload.

To achieve those types of temps on any modern high core count CPU under high workloads would require some extremely beefy liquid cooling unless you maybe have your PC in a very cold environment.

*cough* Eco mode.

;)

Don't laugh...when I convert bluray rips using handbrake, eco mode drops temps by ~20c for a 10-15% drop in clock speed. Seems worth the peace of mind since I usually queue a night's worth of encoding so I don't mind the slightly longer encoding time.

But yeah, 60C is optimistic at full power budget with a sufficiently-heavy multicore load.

Need advise please.

My knowledge of PC's and building them are very limited. I currently have a PC that my friend build for me many years ago, +- 9 years and the motherboard has taken her last breath (according to Computer Mania). Most of the parts are very old and I don't think it will be compatible with today's standards.

So with that in mind, I'm looking to buy a new PC for mostly gaming and I'm studying programming part time. I don't have a need to play games on the high settings, so long as it is playable. Games I'm currently playing are Diablo 3, Warframe and occasionally Batman Arkhame Knight or Far Cry 3. I would love to be able to play The Witcher 3 and RDR2. My budget is MAX R15k, I have all of the peripherals, so I only need to PC.

I have no idea where to start (unfortunately I lost contact with the friend who build the first one) and would appreciate any assistance from here.

The ram is 2666mhz and it doesn't specify if it's 1x16gb or 2x8gb, you want 3200mhz 2x8gb for dual channel.
A320 mb is not great, the b450 pro is r200 more.

But here's the biggest issue (1) Don't buy from evetech - horrible service and unfair business practices. | MyBroadband Forum

Agreed with the above. A poor selection of components really.

Main problem is your supplier, I wouldn’t touch Evetech unless they were literally the only supplier on the planet. Even then I’d be skeptical.

Damn, ok noted and thanks for the warning.

I got the below from wootware. Is this compatible with each other?

They only have 1650 supers available, will this be fine, or should I wait for 1660?

I've included OS in the price, as I mentioned, I have a valid license on my old (broken) rig, but no idea how to retrieve it.

I'd appreaciate any suggestions. and again please excuse my ignorance on a lot of the topics, my understanding is very limited.

You can get a windows licence at Nucleustech from @Flashgear - he's a reliable dude and has a good rep on the forum.

The Asrock Steel Legend motherboard is 400 bucks cheaper than the Aorus and perfectly fine for a 6 core CPU.

Those savings can go toward getting a Ryzen 3600 or additional storage (ye old classic hard drive). The 1650 Super is fine for gaming at 1080p and while its price isn't ideal, that's the state of things at the moment for all graphics cards.

In what area are you, if I may ask?

First suggestion, drop Windows 10 and get a license off carbonite.co.za from LetumKeys for R99. They are legit keys.

With the money you've saved, upgrade your GPU if you can. 1660 Super would be better, not sure current pricing though.

Thanks will definitely look in to that for the windows.

I saw the steel series, but with my limited knowledge, I use my rule of thumb just to take something a bit more expensive lol. But if it will work that's great news.

I luckily still have HDD so I don't need more storage. I will look at the ryzen 3600 and how much it will affect the budget.

I use a 1080p TV as a screen and I'm not really bothered to increase that.

I'm in Blouberg, Cape Town.

Regarding the 1660, unfortunately it is out of stock at the moment and the prices aren't listed.

That gpu is not in stock yet, wootware basically has no budget gpus.

Drop Win10, you can do it for 'free' or dirt cheap on carb.

This is in my basket,

A cheaper case & psu is also an option.

Due to a total lack of gpus you might have to delay your purchase. On amazon a 1650 super goes for $650+ o_O

This is my basket atm, according to their website, they are getting 1650 super on the 31st of March. Will check then again and then order.
