Then CPU, but I don't think your board supports the Ryzen 3000, and definitely not the 5000 series, so you will probably have to get a new MB + CPU.

If his MB is the A320M PRO-VD PLUS then it supports all 3000 series cpus with 7B38v10 BIOS

SSD first. No doubt about it.

Right now is a really bad time for a GPU upgrade, so just don't even think about it.

its up to date with the latest bios :)

shows support for MATISSE cpu's etc etc

agreed, and even though prices are coming down, our locals are not ;(

In his words;

His budget is around R12K.

Anyone able to help with recommendations etc. ?

All input welcomed and greatly appreciated.
Ryzen won't like that RAM, and the mobo isn't great. Also, with that GPU what game is he intending on playing? Minesweeper?

Evening all,

I have a friend who is looking for a new pc. Hi budget is around 20k for the pc only, excluding peripherals. I came up with the below. Any recommendations or changes to the list?

He needs Bluetooth. I am unsure of the other brands of nvme drives. Maybe drop it from 1tb to 500gb, I am unfamiliar with PSU brands other than Corsair. Screenshot_2021-07-05-17-39-52-676_com.opera.browser~2.jpg

Looks fine.

You can save some money going with this PSU https://www.wootware.co.za/super-fl...fully-modular-black-desktop-power-supply.html
Don't worry about the SSD it's all good https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/sabrent-rocket-q-1tb-nvme-ssd-m-2-review.html

That motherboard no, change it to a B450 or B550 minimum, that RAM no that needs to be a minimum of 3200Mhz for a ryzen system.
Aah thanks for this.

Strange that Evetech would include the RAM they did then on one of their Ryzen pre-built systems.

Cost that is why, the 2666mhz is slightly cheaper, the fact that they use an A320 motherboard also shows that to be an issue.

Had an interesting couple of weeks. Started having random restarts. Event log keeps showing WHEA errors when it happens, indicating that something is wrong with my CPU. Did a LOT of digging, because the restarts would happen at random times: while watching something on YouTube with 1 or 2 more tabs open in Opera, or while alt-tabbed with COD BO running with Excel open. Turns out the WHEA issue is actually quite common with Zen 3 processors, and it's something AMD fail to address because they just keep shipping the chips. Note that this kept happening at stock clocks.

I got my replacement yesterday, and have been thrashing it in Prime95 this morning. I thought it may have been a PBO issue with temps (even though it was set to Auto which I later found out means it's off), but with PBO on it ramps up to 95C @ 4.7Ghz max boost, and holds it steadily. With PBO off, it's currently @ 65C @ 4.4Ghz max boost. These are all obviously extreme use case scenarios as nothing I ever do with the PC will ever push all cores to 100% with boost.

It's called bundling. Retailers sometimes HAVE to buy a bunch of crap from distributors just to get certain parts in (GPUs for example). No-one buys RAM lower than 3000Mhz for Ryzen, but Evetech are never going to be able to move those slower sticks, so they need to do something with them to get them out of storage. It's also why retailers sell random motherboards (like the one you listed - prior to you mentioning it, I didn't even know there was a 320 chipset): they were probably bundled with a crate of 3070s.

I think the average person looking for a PC might know the CPU model number they want/is good, but won't research the mobo, RAM etc that works well with that CPU. So it is easy to sell a bundle with a good cpu and crap other parts because a lot of people will not know any better.

Agreed. They probably catch out a lot of people that way though. Even the big boys like Dell do it with their prebuilts: the specs may be correct, but the individual parts are from the bottom of the pile.

Typical after I buy my prebuilt PC, which I'm loving anyway so no biggie, there's news of card prices coming down and more availability :D

Hi all

can anyone recommend a AMD CPU, PSU, Mobo and NVME for about 9k..?
i have slowly got everything else i need.
let me know if you would like a parts breakdown i have :)

refreshing wootware every day and the prices are getting lower

might have a 3070ti in my future.

strange how all the 3070's are more expensive that the 3070ti's on wootware
