The PC Build Thread

So budget for a decent PC is around R20k then with the current price of GPU's. I was naive thinking 10k would get anywhere if buying new.
I would go 2hnd as much as possible, PC's are so modular that a part breaking isn't a major write off like on a laptop. Also quite often you can find secondhand deals with parts that are still under warranty and have the pop.

It's more convenient to just buy new but if you have time and patience for 2hnd you can get some solid deals.

Why do you have two SSDs? Secondly the Helix models are DRAMless, you want the Pilot models.
I think that case has limited fans, see how many fans the 360 & 400 models come with.
Windows drive and gaming drive :) but what's honestly that bad about dramless? Lower lifespan, slightly lower write speeds?

To what end? Save you having to reinstall things if one of them borks?
The larger one for gaming?? Having games on an SSD is great. Also games are getting larger and larger

Hey guys, any suggestions on this build? I didn't include the graphics card because I will add it at a later stage. I will probably go for a 3060 Ti.

I'd get this memory kit instead - https://www.wootware.co.za/g-skill-...-3600mhz-cl16-1-35v-black-desktop-memory.html. It's close enough in price, guaranteed lower CL and trcd vs the CL18 kit. The RGB equivalent of the Ripjaws is another 450 bucks up the road.

The CPU cooler is overkill, the case is unnecessarily big, the power supply is overkill for the components (the R1000 650W is fine) and you'll probably need more storage. Basically, you can shave some money off the other components and channel them into other areas.

Thanks for suggestions, will consider that.

- What CPU cooler would you recommend for this setup?
- The RAM I might end up with 2x8Gb 3600 CL16

The one that comes with the CPU?? This isn't an Intel the Wraith Stealth I've been using on my 2600 has kept it relatively cool.

The Phanteks air cooler Wootware carries is excellent...the 14cm version is as good as a 280mm AIO. The 12cm version is perfectly fine for a CPU that's gonna pull a 105W max.

When you're comparing RAM, look at the subtimings...you'll find G.Skill uses the same NAND in the Trident Z and Ripjaws lines most of the time and the RGB adds a few hundred bucks. Worth it to some.

I never thought the Wraith Stealth can handle the gaming load.

Can you please share the link to that Phanteks air coller?

Also what other RAM 2x16Gb would you recommend for around R2500
