That board is fine...Asrock can be picky with memory though so check the QVL for compatibility (or ask Wootware if there's going to be an issue with the memory kit you've chosen).

There's no need to look at B450 anymore with good B550 options being available at decent prices.

You can save 400 bucks and get the 650W version of that power supply - if there was a 550W, you could even get that safely. The CPU and GPU will pull about 330W maxed out so well within the peak efficiency window with fans, drives and the motherboard thrown in.

For motherboards you can page back and look at what other people chose - the 5600X isn't hard to power (it's only going to use like 105W at peak) so onboard features are probably going to be the difference.

The 3060 is just barely able to get decent RT performance when using DLSS, so at this price point it's irrelevant imo.

DLSS is a big benefit with nVidia, but with the additional raw horsepower of the 6700XT I still think the AMD card is the better option if they are priced similarly.

As for the motherboard debates, unless the B450 board is significantly cheaper and you're pinching pennies, go for the B550 board.

Keep the 750W PSU. I like overspeccing PSUs, as they do become less powerful as they age. You will probably want to upgrade the GPU before the rest of the system, so don't just buy for the GPU you're getting now, but also for the one you might get 3 years from now.

SSD, case, RAM and CPU all look good.
 
What would the current generation equivalent be of a Zotac Amp Edition GTX 1080 8GB?
 
Anyone know where I can get a new GPU power cable, looking for a nice good quality long one. Looking for around 65cm or longer. Only ones I can find on Wootware are in a set with a bunch of other cables I don't even need so its a waste.

How are the stock coolers/fan handing heat under heavy load?

What is the performance like when you throw big things at it like video or image editing?

I'm considering getting pretty much what you ordered so I'd be interested to hear how it's working out.
 
Looking for a suitable replacement for a GTX970, perhaps a newer card that can use freesync/g-sync. Just 1080p gaming actually
 
Last week I finally bit the bullet and got a new pc to replace my old one from 2016. I was running a GTX960 with 60fps monitors and it damn near kills over playing MS Flightsim.

Ended up going for:
* CPU: Ryzen 5600X
* MOBO: Asus ROG Strix B550,
* RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200Mhz @ CL16 (I had to use this to get low enough clearance)
* HDD: Corsair PCIe4 M.2 1TB
* GFx: Zotac 3060ti OC
* PSU: Corsair 750RM Modular
* Case: Fractal Meshify
* AIO: NZXT Kraken Z53
* Screen: 32" ASUS TUF Curve 1440p 165Hz/1ms

The cooler is completely overpriced, but I had to return some RAM that wouldn't fit and decided to return the original CoolerMaster ML240 AIO to get enough in-store credit to do a direct swap for the Z53.

The LCD display is completely unnecessary, but I love the dual CPU/GPU temp displays...and of course the ability to post animated gifs to it allows for top tier sh!tposting.

That looks so neat!

You'll want to upgrade that stock CPU fan sooner rather than later. Just have a look at your idle/load temperatures. Mine dropped by +- 25°C when I installed an AIO watercooler, but a push/pull radiator air cooler will work just as well (if not better).

Nice work getting an EVGA card. They're known for having the best customer support.

I was always wary of watercooled systems, but the AIO's (All-In-Ones) are sealed units, so you don't do anything other than mount it on the cpu and screw the radiator/fans into the case.

Components have been tested individually and all seem fine. Looks like it was just the combination of that ram, board and CPU that didn't work well together.

I received everything back a little over a week ago, currently running in a B550M with a 5600x at 3600mhz (XMP enabled) and no black screens.

Sold the CPU, selling the B450 board and keeping the ram. Man what a pain in the A to resolve

Uh yeah it's running really nice. The only little teeny tiny thing I could've done was maybe step up the CPU a notch to a Ryzen 7 or something. But otherwise it's handled most of what I've thrown at it with ease. Some of the particle fx in Resolve that would previously lag a lot (especially at higher densities) run very smooth with very little load times. Haven't done a lot of 3d & rendering with it yet.

Runs a touch loud but I'm also not used to a desktop system right next to me at home.

Depending on your temps, you could change the fan profiles. Could get it running quieter while still being within range.

Thanks, why do you feel the need to go to a Ryzen 7 CPU and which one would you go for?

The CPU you have is 6 core and 4.5ghz max if I remember correctly?
