Hey guys, about wootware's PC Build options.
I was just wondering what the windows installation entailed?
I plan to get my windows from somewhere like this: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/r199-microsoft-windows-10-professional-keys.1101842/

Should I still go with their windows installation or can I just do that myself?
Like I am just a bit confused what the computer comes with without the windows installation option?? Like a free OS like linux?

It comes with nothing. I did the same as you...got them to assemble and installed Windows myself with a bootable flash using keys purchased from that same thread.

Oof I see, Is there a video guide on how to do this?
(And like is it a simple process?)

Very easy.

Stick a flashdrive into your current pc (or any PC running Windows 10)

Download the Media Creation tool:

Follow the steps to create a Windows 10 Flashdrive.
Stick that into your new PC on arrival and follow the steps. (Keep your network cable unplugged during the installation, and choose the "I don't have internet access" option - to avoid having to create an "online microsoft account".
Opt out of everything you can / disable everything offered.

After installation, press start and type Privacy (probably won't come up with anything the very first time, so erase Privacy and type it again - you'll now see the option come up)
Disable everything there except for Camera and Microphone, if you'll use either.

If you want to go a bit further in securing the system, then install Simplewall from here:

Click Enable Filters
You'll get loads of prompts of services and apps trying to access the internet.
You can block most of the windows services, except for SVCHOST and Explorer. Then just allow the apps you install and want to allow internet access.

Use the Windows Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft Website, make sure you choose the correct version according to the license you buy. It will format your flash disk and install the setup files to it. When you get a new pc, plug in the flash disk and start it up, it should detect the flash disk and start the Windows install process. If it doesn't you need to enter BIOS and change the boot sequence devices so that it uses the flash disk.

Yeah i think the demand is probably high enough and sales wont really helpp them much

The prices are quite a bit lower then they were at the start of the year.

My basic requirements I'm looking for (below, just **** I've selected, been out of this for a while), but anything cheaper with more or less the same stats would be great. I'll do the GPU after this, already have decent case and PSU, but cpu, mb and ram needs to go and be upgraded. Main function will be photoshop, affinity and of course gaming. Budget is max 15k, but preferably looking for around 10-12k for Ryzen 7 (if possible otherwise I guess 5 would be ok for a few years?), decent asus m/b and min 32 gigs of ram. Thanks.

Do you have an existing GPU, or do you need the integrated APU as a start?

I bought the same ram, almost the same ASUS motherboard (full atx version, not the M) and a 5600x at the beginning of the year. I did add a CoolerMaster MA620 CPU ARGB cooler, just to spoil myself:

I coupled this to an existing GTX1060. I am really happy with this setup. The system runs great and it stays cool and quiet.
 
Can anyone shed light on temps for a 5800X? I'm guessing that with the auto overclock new CPUs have it's always going to be pushing the limit but I just want to check if I'm in the realm of good enough
Idle - 40°C
Max - 84°C while running blended prime95 on all cores, all cores @4.7GHz, 145W
Ambient temp is around 20°c

Then next question, what's the best tool to use to adapt this a bit more to the efficient side? Or is it better to tinker directly in the bios?

Yeah auto oc ain't great for temps. I sued some weird tool for 3900x, forgot the name now, something ctr overclock .
I set my 3900x manually to 4.25ghz 1.256V dropped temps by 10c

Those temps are perfectly fine...actually pretty good for a 5800x running Prime.

The PBO2 mechanism AMD provides is very good - you can power-limit or overclock if you wanted to. You can even tell your CPU to try higher frequencies while running on a lower PPT (power limit) by using the curve optimiser. Quite enjoyed playing with that.

Only 360mm AIO's and up regularly beat out the best air coolers...from a thermals-only point of view, there isn't a need for AIO'S below that size.

Hey, I was just about to finalize my order for my PC today. However it looks as though the cooler just went out of stock. It was the Scythe Fuma 2.

The alternative wootware presented to me is this one:

I was just wondering what your opinion of it was for the Ryzen 5900X CPU (On a Aorus B550 motherboard) with a 6700XT if that matters.

Also I am just a bit paranoid about the meaning of liquid cooler. I was just wondering what the chances of it leaking and damaging other components are.
