I see there's a 6900xt for $899, 00 with sales tax comes to R15 602, 00, which from what I can see is a pretty decent deal? I have a gsync monitor, but I don't imagine I will have any tearing with that?

Make & model? Things get tricky here and you might not get any dynamic syncing with an amd gpu.

Dell

It's a Dell S2716DG. I see the 3080 comes in a 10 and the newer 12GB. The 12 would be out of budget.

Define light gaming?
Not often, and not for long periods of time. Games like Rocket League, Apex Legends and simple single player games like minecraft etc. I won't be playing on it as much as I will be using it for work, but would like the option to just turn on a game and play, even if it's not on ultra settings

Ok that might be doable then. Will get back to you later.

Looks like that model only does Gsync.

I’d go with the Nvidia anyway tbh. DLSS is objectively better in quality and performance vs FSR (1 and 2)

It's a GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 (rev. 1.0) AM4 AMD B350 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard. I see it's still on a BIOS from 2017. Haha. I'm thinking I will squeeze my budget for a new board.

Edit: will need a new power supply, only have: EVGA 650 B3, 80 Plus BRONZE 650W, Fully Modular, EVGA ECO Mode, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply 220-B3-0650-V1
Should be able to flash it, but do it in steps.

Wow, that's a great price considering the local options go for over R27399.

Ok generally I won't even mention evetech but seeing the product is dell all warranty issues would be dealt with directly by dell (I think).

Hopefully someone else has better suggestions.

I can't recall where, but I did see a thing or spoke to a supplier who stated that some of the Evetech Dells were grey imports so warranty was potentially an issue. It's why I didn't jump on their special at the time. Not 100% of this, but worth asking about/keeping in mind.

Yip. I've seen some here mention they've purchased from them because they would deal directly with dell if the pawpaw hit the fan. How would one determine if they are grey before buying...

Thanks for the suggestions. I saw the G15 as well and was considering it. I also found the following, but I would end up buying it once I emigrate rather than before, which isn't an issue. Works out to about R16000.

That would be concerning since I will be overseas. Assuming Dell would handle the warranty no matter where I am?

Hi MyBB,

So the story of wanting to build my own pc finally came to a realization over the past weekend.

Was lucky enough to have bought a CPU off Aucor a while ago and was stressing a bit if it works or not and over the weekend i got very lucky with a 2nd hand pc that only required a CPU. So with some luck, i picked up the pc on Sunday and had it working on Sunday afternoon. Everything below, except for the CPU was purchased from the same buyer.

Specs:
I7 9700 3ghz CPU
Asus Rox Strix Z370-H motherboard
8gb Ballistix 2400mhz ram x 1 off (will look for another one)
4gb Samsung 2400mhz ram
Has a 128gb NVme.
128gb SSD hdd, but will upgrade later and add another normal HDD
Antec NX110 box, which will also be replaced at a later stage.
400W power supply.

Things I’d Like to upgrade in the future.
Add another 8gb ram to match the one I have. Maybe look at going 2x 8gb 3200mHz ram, when funds allow
Bigger power supply.
GPU of course, as i do not currently have one
Another case perhaps, as this one is a little on the small size.
Better cooler for the cpu, but will get this once i have a new case.
Looking at a better Monitor as well, as the current one isn't great at all.

I guess we all have to start somewhere right

If someone has some recommendations on what to do regarding adding more fans etc, please feel free to let me know, would love some input from people with a more knowledge than i have.

Time to look at a new system. Currently considering the following:

Box: Cooler Master Cosmos C700 w/TG + Pre-Installed Fans XL ATX Chassis - Grey
Mobo: ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-E Gaming WIFI Intel Core Socket LGA1700 for 12th Gen
Processor: Intel Core i9-12900K CPU - 16-core LGA 1700 3.2GHz Processor BX8071512900K
RAM: Adata XPG Lancer RGB DDR5 16GB RAM (x2) - 64GB (may consider buying another two for 128GB RAM)
NVMe: Samsung 980 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD (will run my main OS)
PSU: Corsair 1000W Rmx Modular
CPU Watewrcooler: Corsair iCUE H150i RGB PRO XT Liquid CPU Cooler
HDD: Seagate Exos X16 16TB HDD (Considering two of these for my Plex Media Files)

Any ideas or suggestions?

What GPU and screen are you using?

That's a high end build but kind of pointless if you're using a 3060. Unless this isn't for gaming.

Also, that case looks like it doesn't breathe well and that CPU is the hottest on the market. I'd go for something with better airflow - Lian-Li Dynamic 011-XL or something like that.

I bought an XPS 13 from them in 2020, and they pulled a car dealership move where warranty started months before I bought the laptop.
I contacted Dell, sent them my invoice and they updated the warranty duration for me.

So it seems at least with the laptops from that time will have a Dell warranty.

Still, with their delivery and insurance fees I would buy elsewhere if possible.
