A question , would it be possible that GPU pricing is coming down in SA ?

Not in a rush to get my GPU just yet latest end of year but if pricing comes down that 3060ti is looking possible

Edit : so the 3060 has 12GB of VRAM and the 3060Ti has 8GB VRAM

Would the 3060ti still be a better bet when raising resolution and quality ? (Sorry for the noob question )

The 3060 runs out of render throughput before the 3060 Ti runs out of frame buffer meaning the 3060 Ti is still better at higher resolutions (>30% @ 1440p and 4k). The 3060 has a narrower memory bus so the bigger memory buffer is a bit pointless.

Prices are coming down - if you have no need of a graphics card immediately, November \ December will *probably* be better depending on what the exchange rate is doing. The 3060 Ti is already about 25% down since April according to the wayback machine.

Very nice!

Your lack of rear exhaust fan disturbs me but I'll just assume you've already ordered one and it hasn't arrived yet and let it slide for now.
Jy kan nou maar relax. I've just added the extra phan. However, I might swap them out for scythe 120/140s later on so that there is 3 front, 1 back and 2 top in total.

Other side project I might take on is an extern display using a rasberry + lcd for things like temps. Well, depends on total cost, still, then I have a rb for things.

will go for 3060Ti , buying components month to month so I’ll probably buy the GPU in November anyways

Thanks for the awesome in-depth explanation

She's a chunky boy! 3090ti suprimx

No problemo.

Things to keep an eye on that would affect pricing -

The ETH merge is scheduled to happen Wednesday or Thursday this week. It supports like 90% of the mining market and there are no other coins that are profitable for GPU mining atmo. There will be be even more secondhand GPUs dumped into the market.

Nvidia announcement for the 4000 series is the 20th. AMD new stuff gets announced in October.

If history repeats itself, the prices of the current gen stuff will hit a low in that period between the announcements and launch. That would be the time to buy if you're on a strict budget and FOMO isn't in your nature. I expect availability will be better this time around so that situation where people saw the 3000 series announcement and lost their minds selling their 2000 series stuff immediately (and then couldn't get a new card post-launch) won't happen again but man, was it hilarious.

The amount of static needed to kill a PC nowadays would more than likely kill the person first :)
Not really. What typically happens is that the static will damage something in a non-destructive way. This will shorten the lifespan of the component by an unknown amount.

So the fancy power management IC, or some other component, now has an MTBF of 10 000 (or some other random number) hours instead of 1 000 000 hours. You won't see it fail now, but somewhere down the line, it might fail. We see it a lot in our industry (defence).

Edit: fixed typo
