That would only be the case if you had Windows already installed on one drive and then installed another OS onto the second drive that also wrote over the boot loader files. You should be able to just take those drives out without hassle, unless you have an OS installed on one of them and multi-boot between OSes.

When I got my 2TB - I wanted to take my 40gb out and when I did, my pc wouldn't boot until i put the 40gb back in.

If I reveal hidden files on my 40gb - it has the following on it:

Boot.bak
RHD Setup
OEM Settings - OEM.tmp

Damn, graphics card is out of stock, and the other suppliers sell it for R1800. :/

I just wanted to ask about the suppliers you linked, would you recommend buying from those suppliers as posted?

Yes, I would, special mention must go to RebelTech and Solid Computing, they always have great customer service and are very reliable. The only store that I haven't had experience from is DigitalSushi, mainly as I didn't see a need to buy from them, but there don't seem to be any relatively bad reviews on HelloPeter.

Mounting SSD

Hi guys, just to humor you I want to ask this very noobish question.

I want to buy this SSD and mount it in this case.

The SSD is 2.5" and AFAIK the case does not have an 2.5" bay?

Please help, linky to what I might need will be appreciated!

Hi did not Google nor did I use the search function. Naughty me!

Pretty much all SSD's include a 2,5" to 3,5" bracket for these issues, you should be fine:)

Just did some Googling...that drive does not come with a 3.5" bay....can someone please point me to a suitable product, or should I rather buy a more expensive drive that includes the bay by default?

The bracket costs around R80, just request one when ordering. Alternatively, Corsair drives do have these brackets in their boxes:)

Will the Intel Base i3 rig be able to handle BF3 on low settings?

Intel Base Rigs

None of the SSD's that I've bought so far came with brackets:
OCZ Vertex 30GB
G.Skill Phoenix 120GB
OCZ Agility 4 128GB

I don't care about the brackets, since I just screw the SSD's onto the 1 side of a 3.5" bay.

Hey Vercogen

Sorry for the late reply, here's my quote :

CPU : i5 3570K @R2210
Motherboard : @R2805 / ASUS Maximus V Gene @R2545
GPU : Sapphire Radeon HD7850 @R2660
SSD : OCZ Vertex 4 - 120GB @R1400
RAM : Kingston Hyper X 8GB - 1600MHz @R455
CPU Cooler : Corsair H60@R710

Total = R10 240 / R9 980

*For your motherboard, I've given you 2 options, the P8Z77-V Pro and the Maximus V Gene. The V-Pro while still offering very good overclocking performance is more suited to general use and has more useful features for day-to-day use whereas the Maximus V Gene offers similar if not better overclocking performance than the V-Pro and is more suited towards enthusiasts with features such as LN2 cooling support.

*I've dropped the amount of RAM from your suggestion from 16GB to 8GB as you don't really need anything more than 8GB for gaming, however if you are doing tasks such as video editing then 16GB of RAM would be of better use than 8GB.

*For the GPU I've put in a Radeon HD7850 for now, will run every game currently at 1080P, but I highly recommend that you wait for the GTX 660Ti to release (possibly) on August 25 as rumours suggest. It should offer improved performance for the same price as the 7850.

*I've also dropped an OCZ Vertex 4 in there for faster read/write times and a Corsair H60 to allow you overclock your i5 and keep the temperatures at a safe level.

Thanks D- man

I am leaning more to the 7850, but they are very close together according to this, so now i really don't know which one to get. Is there any performance loss with AMD radeon and Intel?

I want to wait for the 660ti, but don't know if I can wait that long

This is what I have in mind atm, I know the 16 gig ram is a overkill, but thinking ahead if I want to upgrade again

MSI Intel Z77M-G80, R2 274.30

Intel CPU, Core i5 Range, Ivybridge LGA1155, i5 3570K R2 364.36

2 x Apacer ARES 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz R1 012.32

MSI R7850 Power Edt 2GD5/OC 2GB ATI 16x PCI-E R2 734.86

At stock clocks the Radeon 7850 and GTX 570 are very close, but the 7850 has far more overclocking potential than the 570. Many people are hitting 1300Mhz on the core, that's performance similar if not slightly better than a 7950. Probably the "best equipped" 7850 to overclock would be the ASUS HD7850-DC2 with its DirectCU II cooler which keeps the GPU cooler and operates quieter than most other coolers.

Just out of curiosity why pick the MSI Z77M-G80 over the ASUS motherboards, considering that ASUS are arguably the leading motherboard manufacturer currently?

Also if you want to save a bit on RAM you could get 2x Axtrom 8GB DDR3-1333Mhz for a total of R819 incl. VAT
