The Personal Development & Financial Independence Thread

Thoughts?

this video helped me with my motivation today, hopefully it can help someone else :)

Thoughts?
That guy looks creepy and handing off near everything to AI as he says is possible is a recipe for disaster.

First guy seems a bit off. There's no way I would by a McLaren with that kind of net worth / income.
The 30mil? I think that was income last year not net worth. Unless you referring to something else.

The R30 million he stated as the revenue for his most recent and highest year. He also stated that he is 30, and had a net worth of R1m at 23. So we're taking about 6-7 years in his new business now - the distribution of income was likely low (had to get clients, hire people, wait for them to do the work, etc.), like most businesses, and peaked at R30m. It would probably be generous to say that it averaged R15m, but that would mean 6.5*15 = 97.5m. Next, this is revenue - he states that he employs developers do these jobs, probably has legal and accounting expenses, may even have premises, but will assume all his employees are local. It would be generous again to say that he has a 50% margin (most likely, it is less than that). That leaves, R48.75m earned over 6.5 year, which works out to R4.3/m year after taxes and R28m net worth, if he has never paid any expenses, and if he takes all the money out of his business each year. Reasonable expenses (say R1m/y) - so excluding the car, would put him at R21M.

He's 30 - probably has 60 years left. R21m is just not that much, and his income could go away tomorrow (a lesson he apparently learned in his first business), so to spend more than a years income on a car is frikkin stupid IMO. So is advertising wealth on Youtube and driving a McLaren up and down the streets of a country like South Africa.

TBH I am not the biggest fan of Black Savage.

1) He copies School of Hard Knocks wholesale!

The same script, same approach, everything. He had a chance to do some differentiation but nope, none of that.

I do watch some his some of vids from time to time purely as it is localized content.

2) Some serious pandering to Chris Ocean, that is a whole other character, "Mr BPO".

Heh, never mind my above comment. After a bit of searching, it turns out that the guy is a scammer trying to become a wealth influencer who claims he can teach you to become wealthy by selling AI website to gullible clients. The McLaren isn't his - at best, rented for the day. Ironically, he gave himself up by doing things that wealthy people don't do.

Okay seems I have stumbled upon more than I bargained for lol
Should I delete the video off thos thread?

Huge issue in South Africa...just go to Sea Point or Camps Bay.
Yeah. The vast majority of wealthy people I know spend money on houses and travel, and never post about it. Even the few “car guys” I know would rather buy a specific decades old classic sports car than the latest Lambo or Bugatti.

Something on the opposite end of the spectrum to try and balance things out

Annual reminder to prod your bank and ask for rate reviews. Got another -.5% off my bond this morning.

How do you go about doing this? Do you send them a short email, a long soppy one, do you make it a formal letter?

If you don't want to share here, could you kindly pm me an exampe of the format you use?

I'm on 9,3% at the moment - how much did they reduce your rate to?

Before I had a banker I would call the homeloan department myself and request it.

Now, I send an email to my banker and ask them to prod teh HL team.
