The plan to fix Home Affairs

The Department of Home Affairs has proposed a number of new measures to escalate its "war on queues", which aims to eliminate the long lines and wait times at its branches around South Africa.

This initiative has not been very successful since it was first introduced in June 2018, but the department remains committed to improving its service levels.

Not sure it will work. They should have an imbizo to setup a commision to investigate the possibility of putting it out to tender. Or an imbizo to discuss the viability of such an imbizo, at the very least. I think that should hit the spot. Of course some news headlines and ribbon ceremonies to follow. Yeah that sounds right.

"A$$holes in South Africa are strapping modified VR headsets to Home Affairs in an effort to improve the quality of whatever....

Throw in an Indaba or two and a few international learning trips and they might be able to

They need to fix their computer systems.

Currently every time there is an issue or error message on the screen the government operator just does a hard reboot which takes 5-10 minutes to complete. After the third reboot I asked her wtf is the error message and it was saying she typed in something wrong.

Why do they need to get a fancy heat map system to check how many cell phones are in the area?

Just check how many tickets are in the queue and display that data... lol

They need to fix their infrastructure first. :(

Was there recently and the "system" went offline 3 times. With one power failure, that fixed the system being offline - I suspect that it was due to the router being power cycled cause of the power failure.

Did he get his job through affirmative action? Cause nothing is getting done

When you just don't believe the words coming out of any government officials mouth then you know you have a problem.

They should do what every other 1st world country does and separate out the passport section of home affairs and create a dedicated service channel just for issuing passports. 99% of the people queuing at home affairs are there for a new ID card which makes it very irritating for people who just want to get a new passport.

Just do it through all bank branches. It is an amazing experience. In and out in 15 minutes. No queues or waiting.

Why not organize the Post office so that in every little town there would be the facility. When the staff are not manning that they would go back to normal post office work..... or am I dreaming ?

Actually, it's pretty simple. Just make their salary dependent upon the number of people assisted each day.
