The Poynting antenna discussion thread

Hi guys

anyone in Durban have a person or who is skilled enough to install an antenna ?

I am also looking for someone in Durban to install an external antenna for me....

Which antenna are you installing?

Looks to me like a dual band 1800 / 900 Mhz antenna if you ask uneducated me, but take measurements between the elements and the width of the elements and post.

The largest elements are 9cm with 6cm gap.

It was apparently used “to improve the WiFi”.

For the last week, our office LTE has been dog slow whereas it has always flown. I blamed the Telkom tower across the road. Today out of frustration I did some troubleshooting and when I unplugged the 2 XPOL-6 pigtails, speeds improved. The antenna is about 6yrs old. Could it really have gone faulty?

Hmm.... if the tower is across the road you very likely don't need the antenna. I had one (bought from you haha) that I discovered I didn't actually need - the tower was only 4 blocks away. I think they're useful for when you're properly far away. What router are you using? Try forcing channel 21 / 18 (or whatever they are - I tend to forget these things) and see if one works better than the other? I found at home that channel 18 worked best after hours and 21 (or was it 23) during the day.
Using a Huawei B525. Have always had amazing speeds until this hiccup
